Scale a sbalzo
Jenny's dad scales a fish that her older brother caught that morning and her husband washes at the wash counter outside the bathroom. The kitchen is the room that juts out away from the washroom door.
We were in Shuibian over the Dragon Boat Festival.
June 10 - 15, 2013 we were on a trip to Shuibian, Jiangxi province to visit the family of our friend Jenny. It was a very rural China experience.
I love Midtown for its scale. Here we see a small fountain built next to one of the many fine Victorian and Craftsman era homes, some smaller Victorian homes, a tiny shack, a modern condominium renovation in a mid-size building, a modern office tower, a modernist office tower from the 1980s, an old church, one of the ten tallest buildings in North America, and a bunch of trees and greenery of various sizes. We also see a parking lot.
Meg Duguid: Everyone is a Bathing Beauty
July 27- August 1, 2010
Drawing from George Bernard Shaw's classic play Pygmalion, with a Busby Berkeley twist, visitors may perform in short, scripted scenes playing the role of Henry Higgins, Eliza Doolittle, or a supporting character. On July 27, at 7 pm, a large-scale Busby Berkeley dance scene utilizing audience members is performed and filmed on the MCA Plaza. During the week, audience members are invited to act and are given cards with a description of a scene, along with a minimal costume that represents the character. Scenes are edited by Duguid and presented the following day on television monitors in the gallery, culminating in a finished work. By the end of the week, the silent movie features numerous visitors acting as Higgins' and Doolittle's of varying age, gender, race, and physical appearances.
