SIA leased an Aerospatiale Concorde from British Airways to operate supersonic services from Singapore to Heathrow, lasting a record eight hours and 40 minutes with a stop in Bahrain.

Services commenced in 1977 but did not last long. Overfly rights were later withdrawn by Saudi Arabia after the sonic boom allegedly scared their camels. Later, Malaysia banned them over their airspace as well.
