Domo having a moment with his scale!

Now we're gettin somewhere...

This was my first choice but it's SO blurry, I had to go back and take another shot. Personally, I like this pic of me better than the other but the quality is craaaap! (singing crap in a opera voice).

TRP - If I tell you....

PAD - Resolutions for 2011?

Don't tell anyone but I gained MORE than 10 lbs this last year. For someone barely 5'2" that's a lot! Soooo, my resolution? Prepare my own meals to bring to work and only have cheese as a special treat... not a daily snack... and when I say snack, I mean meal. :)

And on a side note, I really can't wait for my special wireless remote to come in the mail. Unless I have something to focus on, many of my selfies are especailly blurry, kinda like this one. And it was far away and I dont' really care.

Scaled Koi - Opus 425 by Robert J. Lang, my second attempt.

LATIN NAME: Quadraspidiotus ostreaeformis (Curtis)

LIFE CYCLE: Overwinter on host as immature nymphs (black caps) that mature about pink stage of apple. Live young (crawlers) are produced from June through August. One overlapping generation per year.

MONITORING: Inspect twigs and branches during dormant season, and fruit at harvest, for scales. Crawlers can be detected using double-sided sticky tape around one branch per tree (smooth bark to improve adhesion).

HOSTS: Fruit trees, ornamental trees and shrubs.

COMMENTS: Refer to the description of San Jose scale for distinguishing between European fruit scale and San Jose scale. Crawlers of both scales are yellow to orange in colour, flattened and slow moving. The shell of adult European fruit scale is black and gray whereas that of immature scales is black.

BODY LENGTH: Adult - 1.7 mm.

Here is another photo of Guru Guru. I just took a photo standing above her, then mirrored the image in photoshop to see the beauty of the scales and skin.

Thanks, Evan. Much clearer now.

Exerpt from Frank’s diary, undated,

I’d never met Scarlett, but I knew Kayley thought highly of her. Something in her boot was bugging her now, and she used it as an excuse not to talk any more, concentrating on fiddling with it and rubbing her foot. I guess the raid idea, the half assed plan as Peter had called it, was her last hope for Scarlett.

Holiday themes on the G scale at the 50th Great NYS Model Train Fair organized by the Central NY Chapter, NRHS, in the NY State Exposition Center building in the NY State Fairgrounds, Solvay NY.

HM Coastguard & RNLI Lifeboats. The figures are all from a 3D printed “lifeboat crew set” bought from eBay, which arrive as plain resin. I painted some as RNLI volunteers, 2 as Coastguard, and 2 as Air Ambulance crew (as will be shown in a following post).

The van is 1:72 scale by Cararama and used to be a Belgian Police model (I can’t access the inside or I’d have switched it from L to R hand drive). The speedboat I believe is also 1/72, again I think Cararama, it was turquoise and it sat unused on a shelf until recently.

HM Coastguard (HMCG) are one of four principal Emergency Services in the UK. Accessed by calling 999/112, the BT Operator will ask “Emergency, which service?”. HM Coastguard maintain Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centres (999 Call Handling, Control, Dispatch & Co-Ordination). RNLI Lifeboats are a voluntary charity providing rescue services around Britain & Ireland, operating in both the UK and ROI. They are tasked frequently by HMCG whilst also providing Lifeguard and additional services.

The Coastguard figures in blue represent CG Rescue Officers, volunteers who form Coastguard Rescue Teams, led by salaried Senior Coastal Operations Officers. While HMCG do operate ships, they do not operate lifeboats. They also have access to a number of helicopter assets. Lifeboat services are provided by a number of agencies and independent groups, however with 146,000 lives saved over 200 years, 238 lifeboat stations, 448 boats & hovercraft and 5,700+ volunteers, RNLI are the largest provider. In having models and figures representing both organisations, I feel I’ve well represented the fourth emergency service.

Scale 1:24

details of a scale found in the ruin of an old building.

Old metal scales that made a lovely metal clunk every time the dough was put on them and another equally satisfying clunk when it was taken off.

The rhythmic sound it would make when you're alone weighing in this bakery would be soothing. Or gently sending you insane.
