St Edith's at Monk's Kirby is one of the grandest churches in Warwickshire; having formerly been monastic it was built on a huge scale; the aisled nave and chancel form one vessel with no structural division, all built of rich red sandstone except for the later upper part of the tower giving it a distinctive two-toned red and white look.
The interior is a huge, dark, cavernous space, and with all three aisles virtually the same height feels like a German hall church. The arcades have no capitals, giving them an Arts & Crafts feel. The windows are large but high up (there was formerly a cloister to the north) and admit only so much light, having much rich glass by Hardman's at the west end and a fine Lavers & Barraud to the east. The furnishings are not old and the main items of interest are the monuments, with two Tudor-period tombs with effigies in the Fielding chapel in the north east corner. There are ghostly white marble 19th century memorials further west in the north aisle with members of the Earl of Denbigh's family in high relief, and a badly worn medieval knight's head poking out the wall at the north west corner (fragment of a large tomb effigy).
This is a very familiar church for me as I've been here several times over the years, in fact it was one of the first old churches I ever saw as a child (my mother wanted to see the monuments here when I was about 5 years old, but I ruined her visit by finding the tombs way too spooky and had to be taken out in a state of distress!). It is a church I can return to again and again with more appreciative adult eyes, and though I still feel the atmosphere that sparked my childhood trauma in here I welcome it as a special memory that first got me really thinking about and looking at such places. Happily the church is normally open and welcoming to visitors.

This is a close up of a pinecone, but the arrangement of the bristles look somewhat like the scales of a pangolin (a close relative of the anteater).

In my faculty they teach architecture and engineering. Architecture students use to make scale models. Unless the models were really good, They don't use to take them back to home because sometimes they are too large for going into the bus, and students found their "not so good" models useless when the semester ends. that's why most of those models end up in the trash. I asked a friend if I could keep this one and he said: "Of course!". Look at it carefully and you will notice that is not so perfectly made, but thanks to this scale model I could make this photo story:
We had granite counters installed last week. Hope it helps to sell our house. Our house is inactive right now so we can finish it up to show and I have this feeling that we are going to sell it fast. Ray thinks I'm nuts, but I thought the same thing about our last house and it sold on the first day (the first people to look at it even). So I don't know, I just have that same feeling this time, but I hope I'm wrong. I'll keep you updated!

Katakolo (Greek: Κατάκολο; before the 1970s: Κατάκολον or Katakolon) is a seaside town in western Ilia in the municipality of Pyrgos. Katakolo is part of the municipality of Pyrgos (Ilia). It is located south of Patras and Dounaiika, 12 km off downtown Pyrgos, west of Olympia and northwest of Messenia. The town centre is within a gulf overlooking the Ionian Sea and dividing the Kyparissian Gulf from the rest of the Ionian.
It has a small port which is the main port of Pyrgos, a school, restaurants, a church and a town square. Most impressive is surely the visit to the Municipal Museum of Ancient Greek Technology which holds 150 operating reconstructions of mechanisms and inventions of the ancient Greeks covering the period from 2000 B.C. to 100 A.D. A railway called the Katakolo-Pyrgos line goes to Katakolo. Small hills with forests surround Katakolo. Katakolo is situated on a peninsula and has a lighthouse founded southwest. The Lighthouse Katakolo (Faros Katakolo) was first opened in 1865. The port is also a frequent stop for cruise ships on tours of the Ionian and Mediterranean seas, offering an opportunity for passengers to visit the site of Ancient Olympia. Consequently, many of the shops in the town centre are geared toward foreign tourists. The other main industries includes agriculture and services.

CASTELLANO
Katákolo (en griego Κατάκολο o Κατάκωλο) es una localidad costera de la prefectura de Élide, periferia de Grecia Occidental (Grecia). Actualmente es pedanÃa de Pirgos, ciudad a la que sirve de puerto. Su población censada en 2001 era de 601 habitantes.
En las cercanÃas de la localidad se situó el asentamiento de Feiá, cuyo puerto cobró gran importante durante la Guerra del Peloponeso. Dicho asentamiento quedó destruido en el siglo IV y desapareció bajo las aguas en el siglo VI a causa de un terremoto. Ya en época medieval la zona fue ocupada por los francos, que construyeron el castillo de Pontikókastro sobre la acrópolis de Feiá, cuyos restos se hallan actualmente 5 m bajo las aguas.
Katákolo está conectado con Pirgos mediante carretera pavimentada y vÃa férrea. Su puerto, que sirve a dicha ciudad, cuenta con Autoridad Portuaria y Aduana. Es una parada frecuente de los cruceros que operan entre el mar Jónico y el mar Mediterráneo, ofreciendo la posibilidad de visitar la antigua Olimpia.

N scale custom model train layout. This layout were calling "Kato City" It has a dogbone track plan that raises in elevation and drops back down. The inside track is for Portram, and a branch line serving an oil tank. The outside is double tracked with a spur so three different trains can run.

The HO scale farmhouse kit is the same design as the one on my N scale layout, but each of us detailed ours a bit differently, and each of us scratchbuilt a shed for the farm vehicles.. The trees behind the farmhouse are a photograph that is cut out to help hide a hidden track in a carefully concealed trench that will eventually lead to a lower level featuring Emporia, Kansas.
