1/6 scale... for my girls...

LE SCALE

Le scale

questi ansanti tabernacoli bianchi

marmi sui quali gli umani

pavimentano l’anima.

Scale fatte d’aria

dove non ruotano i venti.

Scale adorne

che separano i ferrati dai lenti.

Scale in stile gotico, apostolico

che non portano a Dio

né alla sacralità dell’Essere.

Scale intime, abissali

sotto boschi

dove urlano i corvi.

Le scale

questi penosi tabernacoli bianchi

dalle antiche radici di ferro

che non danno colore

non spargono odore

a chi stringe più in alto lo scettro.

"...Lecce’s Roman Amphitheatre. An enormous circular structure that seated thousands of patrons. Excavated in 1938, during construction of an Italian bank - the theatre takes up nearly half of the piazza, while the other half remains buried under surrounding coffee shops and boutiques. In its heyday, Lecce’s Amphitheatre was the most important Roman monument of the city. Built under Hadrian's empire, the amphitheatre dates back to the 2nd century when Lecce thrived under its Roman name of “Lupiae”..."

It occurred to me that I hadn't taken a good scale photo with the minifigs in front.

So here it is.

I felt like building some more micro scale T-formers, so I decided on Shockwave. Consists of 30 pieces and transforms from robot to tank without adding or taking away parts.

Cappella Bizantina

I never realized how many interesting buildings and views there are in the town I live in until I seriously started to scout around for backgrounds.

The one thing I have to do is wait until the shops close so there aren't any cars or trucks mixing in with the Elgin Park vibe.

Usually early in the morning or on the weekends is the best time.

The Holidays, though, are great because everyone leaves town so the streets tend to be empty.

When I was young, I would purposely take walks by way of short cuts and back alleys to avoid seeing people. It gave me the impression that I was the only person around.

But I must add here, I liked the fact that I could walk by an open window and hear a radio or a muted conversation, or off in the distance I could hear a train rolling by.

How interesting that decades later I would be photographing such scenes.

I know, I know, perhaps I should see a therapist. Actually I did but there were no inroads made on this particular subject.

Just think, if there were, Elgin Park might not exist!

Now that's a scary thought.

Ordinary things seen in extraordinary ways.

The model is due to be part of a larger collaboration, with scenes from the Vietnam war for Brickfair Virginia. As such, it's a bit of a departure from my normal style: it is minifig scale (for which I've used roughly 1/40), largely studless and I've used 3rd party accessories to go with the minifigs (Brickarms).

The scale in my local chemist, Cloyne Care Plus. It is fairly accurate, gives same weight as my home digital scale. It has a coin slot, but no money needed. These large stand on scales are becoming rare, this one is before the Euro. It offers weight in stones = 14 pounds for each.
