Details: NATIONAL TRAILS HIGHWAY is blocked Both Directions. Closed due to bridge damage from flooding.
The desert teaches me to be prepared. Hoping to get my kicks someday. Much of Route 66 has been closed since 2017. Question: will the road re-open in my lifetime? Stay tuned.

This is going to hurt cash flow at Roy's. You could get to Kelbaker and then I-40 before the recent storms. Currently closed a few hundred feet east of Roy's at the wash next to Amboy School. In case this is outdated information, you should check the link below for County Road Department current conditions. You have to move the map as it 'wakes up' in the center of the universe, San Bernardino.
At the moment, you can't get to Kelbaker Road and I-40 unless you ignore the Road Closed signs and drive around the bridge in the wash. Alternative is to go a half hour west to Ludlow where you have I-40 access. For me, this adds about an hour to reach Mojave National Preserve.
