I took this yesterday morning while walking my dog. They were very friendly and curious, but I didn't trust them with my dog completely, so I didn't get much closer than this.
The Grafelijkheids Dunes near Den Helder form the northern part of the North-Holland dunes. These dunes were once a separate island, Huisduinen.
Due to dehydration from water exploitation and then a sudden rise in the groundwater level, vegetation in the Grafelijkheids Dunes has gone wild. Lots of rare plants such as orchids disappeared. Instead, thick growth of bushgrass and creeping willow grew. Scottish Highlanders, Dexter cattle and ponies were released. The area is surrounded by a fence to keep the livestock from wandering away.

Barred Owl with its dinner. Found him again a little later, sitting fat and happy in another tree digesting what I imagine is a big meal for an Owl.
“You can talk with someone for years, everyday, and still, it won't mean as much as what you can have when you sit in front of someone, not saying a word, yet you feel that person with your heart, you feel like you have known the person forever.... connections are made with the heart, not the tongue.”

Hello everyone, I've been out of circulation a while. Thank you to those noticing and asking! :)
I lost my job right around Christmas. This was basically the culmination of a decade-long process that destroyed my profession (medical transcription) in the U.S. In the end I had to look as far away as Australia to find a decent work situation! Luckily I do my work over the Internet so I didn't have to move.
The adaptation has not been easy, but the pay rate is already better than in my last job and they seem to value my experience - imagine that!
So for a while photography/Flickr was a luxury I just couldn't indulge in. I hope to get back into it going forwards and reacquaint myself with all your wonderful new work!
This is an older picture from China Beach I thought you might enjoy in the meantime.

Today my manager takes me away from Barnes. I will be moved somewhere for couple of days until I get a new placement. We sit in the station's garden for a coffee and from nowhere a little Robin appears...He is not taking bread crumbs but stands next to me and looking for some minutes..Someone passed away yesterday and we did not manage to say Good Bye each to other..Is it him who sent me a Little Robin? I strongly believe there is connection...

Well here in Hartlepool I have no Glencoe mountains. No Harris beaches.
But what I do have is the well captured Steetley pier.
Trying to find something a little different after all these years, is becoming increasingly difficult
But hey, I love a challenge
So off we set last night back down to our usual haunt.
I'd expected it to be busy, due the warm weather, which usually brings out people in their hoards.
Not the greatest of evenings
Doesn't it annoy when those who come decide to leave their bags full of rubbish.
Idiot folk setting light to things, so the local Fire Service need to attend
Then two foul mouthed youths decided it was fun to walk not past but onto the posts I was stood photographing
Sadly a sign of the times we live in now
But hey, I spotted this reflection under the pier which appeared to show a little more of the underside and due to the low tide, it's the section furthest into the sea
Courtesy Brittany Martin Many find comfort or hope from seeing mourning doves. Some people believe that the sight of a mourning dove is a message from God, angels, or other spiritual guides. In the Old Testament of the Bible, a dove is a symbol of reconciliation, forgiveness and peace.

The Adventure
The weekend had been magical. Honni had never felt more relaxed or in love with their boyfriend. Spending so much time with family, in the water, and surrounded by the sweet Mediterranean air really recharged and re-energized our adventurer. But like all good moments, this one had to end too. After packing their bags, and saying their goodbyes, Honni and Melethril walked up to the front desk in the lobby and checked out.
So long Portoluna! We’ll miss you!

A small crowd of locals has gathered outside of Page, AZ, where what was announced to be the last inbound coal train to the Navajo Generating Station. There ended up being another run after this one, leaving later in the day and slipping by most buffs. I only saw one other railfan near Kayenta on the chase of the last train.

A rare occasion when a Short-eared owl not only flies close to you, but perches by your car. I was just about to pack up the car when I noticed this guy sitting on a pole right next to the parking lot.

Saying Goodbye...
Christmas is over and it is time to say goodbye to all the decorations and knickknacks we surround ourselves with at this festive time of year. Today we start packing up all the lights and decorations into plastic tubs to store them in the basement for another year.
The winter moose is one that always brings a smile to my face. as he is so silly looking. and really joy and happiness is an integral part of the season. just a little reminder that better is just around the corner. and hopefully sooner than later Covid19 will just be a distant memory,

Always good to catch up with Arthur. Mind you, I think he might have been more interested in the Tiger Snake, that I wasn't aware of at the time, as a possible dinner.
Happy Wing Wednesday!

Abū ‘Abd Allāh Muḥammad ibn Ismā‘īl ibn Ibrāhīm ibn al-Mughīrah ibn Bardizbah al-Ju‘fī al-Bukhārī 19 July 810 – 1 September 870), or Bukhārī, commonly referred to as Imam al-Bukhari or Imam Bukhari, was a Persian Islamic scholar who was born in Bukhara (the capital of the Bukhara Region (viloyat) of Uzbekistan). He authored the hadith collection known as Sahih al-Bukhari, regarded by Sunni Muslims as one of the most authentic (sahih) hadith collections. He also wrote other books such as Al-Adab al-Mufrad.
Imam al-Bukhari was the great theologian of the East. He collected and recorded about 600 thousand hadith, i.e. legend based on cases of life or some sayings of the Prophet. Out of them, al-Bukhari selected as “flawless” about 7400 hadith to include into the famous “As-Sahih” which became the second most important book after the Koran for the majority of Sunni.
The mausoleum of Imam al-Bukhari presents in all of its magnificence. In the complex that occupies a vast territory, there are mausoleums, mosques, hotel for tourists and pilgrims, souvenir shops and religious literature.
The mausoleum of Imam al-Bukhari is one of the main pilgrimage sites in Uzbekistan. The visiting of three shrines in Samarkand – the mausoleums of al-Bukhari, Shakhi-Zinda and Rukhabad – within one day, is called “small Hajj”.
He was leaving and gods only knew how long he'd be gone. She'd not told him how she really felt and he'd kissed her forehead as he went off to fight the army of the undead. Hoping it wasn't the last goodbye.

Why is it sad?
Makes us remember the good times we've had
Much more to say
Foolish to try
It's time for saying goodbye
