SAVIOUR are a band from Perth, Australia and this was their last ever show which they played at YMCA HQ.

The Dominican Priory of St. Saviour’s in Dublin was first founded in 1224 on the site today occupied by the Four Courts. The present church was designed by J.J. McCarthy and opened in 1862. The Dominicans have been at the centre of Catholic life in the capital since then. Today the church is a parish church for the surrounding area, and St. Saviour’s is also the House of Studies for the Irish Dominican Province.

This concert was absolutely amazing! LIGHTS is absolutely amazing! Went to go see her with a couple of my friends yesterday, and she blew my mind.

A fire accident happened next to my apartment today... A trash filled bin snagged an electrical line while it was picked up by a truck and the truck caught the fire.

Apparently this church was rescued from closure by nuns from Tennessee in the USA. Last week I was based in Pery's Hotel which is located beside the church and on the first morning I saw three nuns leaving the convent attached to the Church and I really surprised to see how young they were.

Some years ago the Dominican Friars in Ireland announced they had embarked on a process of reorganising its commitments in Ireland because of falling numbers and would be withdrawing from Limerick. As a result of their decision St Saviour’s Church, Glentworth Street, which has an 800-year association with Limerick, was due to close but thanks to the Dominican Sisters of St Cecilia it will remain operational as a church.

On the 4th. of July 2016 the last Mass held by the Dominican Order took place. Soon after the Limerick Diocese took over the running of religious services with a Mass at 1pm each day while the nuns moved into the building later in the summer of 2016.

This Gothic Revival Church, though much altered from the earlier Gothic designs of the James Pain, has a strong presence in the area. It was begun for Prior Fr. Joseph Harrigan and consectated 6th July 1816. The repairs and alteration in 1860 were carried out by J.J. McCarthy. The contractor for that work was John Ryan. The architectural composition and carved limestone detailing, which is a composite of Pain's original design and later alterations, most notably that of William Wallace in the 1860s, is testimony to the skill of the architects involved and the craftsmanship of the artisans involved in its construction.

Wallace heightened the exterior and interior by 20 feet with the addition of a clerestory and rose window in the 1860s. George Goldie designed a new chancel, high altar, reredos, tabernacle and east window between 1863-66. The sculptor for the altar was Bolton of Worchester; the sculptor of the reredos was Patrick Scannell of Cork Marble Works. The stained glass was by William Wailes of Newcastle. In 1870 Goldie and Child remodelled the interior and exterior and the work was supervised by Maurice Alphonsus Hennessy, CE, Limerick. The builders were McCarthy and Guerin. In 1896 and 1899 the stalls and the railings to the Sacred Heart Chapel were designed by George Coppinger Ashlin. In 1927 the communion rails and gates were designed by Ashlin and Coleman.

The church terminates the view from Pery Square to the east, while the south elevation facing onto Dominick Street dominates the view from the east. At any point on Baker's Place the contribution of this limestone church to the streetscape is further enhanced by the Tait Memorial Clock and the former priory, now the Mid-Western Health Board Offices on Pery Street. Saint Michael's Church of Ireland Church, which terminates the view of Pery Street to the west, adds to the prominence of these ecclesiastical buildings within the Georgian district of Pery Square.

"So they went in haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the infant lying in the manger. When they saw this, they made known the message that had been told them about this child. All who heard it were amazed by what had been told them by the shepherds. And Mary kept all these things, reflecting on them in her heart." – Luke 2:16-20, which is part of the Gospel for Christmas Dawn.

I woke up to a cloudy morning and a disappointing sunrise, pretty bummed out as this was my second attempt at the location. Thankfully, the strong wind was enough to create the nice movements for the waves.

When I want to shot new models I tend to meet them first in a coffee shop and get to know them better (and in real live). Afterwards we go and take some test pictures. This is one of them - and I will be taking more pictures and for sure will upload them here - so stay tuned.

The IJU launched a major counter-offensive against the GCJ forces stationed on the outskirts of Tokyo. The operations goal is to take Tokyo and keep it in IJU hands. With support from UK forces the IJU are able to go on the offensive and take back land lost from GCJ assaults in the earlier year.

The foundation stone of St. Saviour's, Brownhill was laid on Shrove Tuesday 1st March 1870, and the building was consecrated on 5th July 1871. It cost £1,883.2.2d to build and as with all subsequent alterations was supported by public subsciption.

St. Saviour's, Brownhill was designed by Michael Sheard, and is built in the early English style of architecture. The original plans for the building included a tower and a spire, and in anticipation of this the Gothic arch at the West end of the church was 'temporarily' bricked up and remains so to this day.

Ellen Nussey, a lifelong friend of Charlotte Bronte, lived in what is now the parish of St. Saviour's Brownhill but worshipped at nearby St. Peter's church, Birstall. Her family owned Brookroyd Mill along with the Clapham family and employed many of the church's original worshippers.

Michael Sheard is also likely to have worshipped here. He designed a number of notable buildings in addition to this church, including Batley Central Methodist Church and the Gothic twin towers at Batley Cemetery. In addition, he was a local historian and the land agent to the Earl of Wilton who gave Batley the park which is a short walk from the church. The church hall extension was added in 1994 and has proved a valuable asset. It is used by a wide range of community groups.

For well over 100 years the parish church has stood as an effective witness to the Saviour in whose name it is dedicated.

The church has many historical features:

> In 1920, an oak memorial was affixed to the North wall in the Nave in memory of those parishioners who fell in the 1914-18 war.

> A portrait of Christ by Hans Richter Damm.

> A memorial plaque to Percy Alexander Hurst Radcliffe's, a locally-born missionary.

> In 1878 the beautiful stained glass East window was installed by H M Barnett of Newcastle.

> An altar rail by Robert Thompson, the Mouseman of Kilburn'.

> In 1935 the Silver Jubilee of King George V and Queen Mary was celebrated by the installation of an oak clergy stall in the Chancel.

> In 2000 the Millennium window was designed and funded by the congregation.

> In 1902 the stained glass window in commemoration of Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee was designed and fitted by Jones and Willis, Mediaeval Art Workers of Birmingham, for the sum of £42.

> The church boasts some beautiful Minton tiles.

Pimlico, London Oct 21, 2012 England. Day one of our stay in London.. Wish I could have had more as this is where I lived for sixteen years. The weather was overcast and just about raining.. but it wasn't cold!

St Saviour's is an Anglo-Catholic church in Pimlico, Westminster, London, England, located at the north end of St George's Square. It was constructed in the 1860s as part of Thomas Cubitt's development of the area on behalf of the Marquess of Westminster. The church was designed by Thomas Cundy, who had previously built St Gabriel's Pimlico a short distance away. As with St Gabriel's, St Saviour's was designed in the Gothic style and built in ragstone to emphasise the contrast with the classical stucco of its secular neighbours. The building is Grade II* listed.

Pimlico is a small area of central London in the City of Westminster. Like Belgravia, to which it was built as a southern extension, Pimlico is known for its grand garden squares and impressive Regency architecture.

The area is separated from Belgravia to the north by Victoria Railway Station, and bounded by the River Thames to the south, Vauxhall Bridge Road to the east and the former Grosvenor Canal to the west.

At Pimlico's heart is a highly disciplined grid of residential streets laid down by the planner Thomas Cubitt beginning in 1825 and now protected as the Pimlico Conservation Area. Pimlico is also home to the pre-World War II Dolphin Square development and the pioneering Churchill Gardens and Lillington and Longmoore Gardens estates, now designated conservation areas in their own right. The area has over 350 Grade II listed buildings and several Grade II* listed Churches.

Notable residents have included politician Winston Churchill, designer Laura Ashley, philosopher Swami Vivekananda, actor Laurence Olivier, illustrator and author Aubrey Beardsley, Kenyan nationalist Jomo Kenyatta and inventor of lawn tennis Major Walter Wingfield... and me!
