Affinity Photo in fact. Unashamedly playing about with split toning and the blue saturation.

I just reached my arm over a fence and shot this blindly. I only cropped a slice off of the wood on the fence to get this composition. word for being lucky :D

Some very bright flowers, it's no wonder the bee liked them. I thought about spraying it with bug killer to keep certain Flickr flower groups happy... but thought that would be counterproductive!

On a separate note, on one of the groups someone thought this was heavily photoshopped. Well it wasn't. The colours of the real flowers were actually very vibrant, which is what caught my eye. Even the bokeh flowers in the back are colour correct. There is some added saturation and sharpening in certain areas but it is very much real.

Je suis allée fort sur la saturation :O)

WIT

This weekend the weather was very uninspiring: cold, completely grey sky and foggy conditions. Nevertheless, we went birding close to the sea and found this group of Flamingos enjoying themselves in our nutrient-rich waters. A bit weird to see this group of pink beauties in this dull landscape. Due to the fog, however, even the pink colours were dull.

Etna - Sicily (Flight view)

Postprocessing RAW:-- lights and saturation

---

Mount Etna (Αἴτνη (Aítnē) in Classical Greek,[2] Aetna in Latin, also known as Muncibeddu (beautiful mountain) in Sicilian and Mongibello in Italian (from the Latin mons and the Arabic gibel, both meaning mountain[3]) is an active stratovolcano on the east coast of Sicily, close to Messina and Catania. Its Arabic name was Jebel Utlamat ("the Mountain of Fire").[citation needed] According to Adrian Room’s book Placenames of the World, the name Etna is said to have originated from a Phoenician word attuna meaning “furnace.” He dismisses the theory that Etna is from a Greek source meaning “I burn.”[4] It is the largest active volcano in Europe, currently standing 3,329 metres (10,922 ft) high, though this varies with summit eruptions; the mountain is 21 m (69 ft) lower now than it was in 1981. It is the highest mountain in Italy south of the Alps. Etna covers an area of 1,190 km² (460 sq mi) with a basal circumference of 140 km. This makes it by far the largest of the three active volcanoes in Italy, being about two and a half times the height of the next largest, Mount Vesuvius. Only Mount Teide in Tenerife surpasses it in the whole of the European region (though geographically Tenerife is an island of Africa).[5] In Greek Mythology, the deadly monster Typhon was trapped under this mountain by Zeus, the god of the sky.

Mount Etna is one of the most active volcanoes in the world and is in an almost constant state of activity. The fertile volcanic soils support extensive agriculture, with vineyards and orchards spread across the lower slopes of the mountain and the broad Plain of Catania to the south. Due to its history of recent activity and nearby population, Mount Etna has been designated a Decade Volcano by the United Nations.[6]

This fulfills Requirement #5 Golden Hour. My camera settings were: 1/25 sec at f/11 and my ISO at 100. In Photoshop, I adjusted the curve to give it a little more contrast. I also adjusted the saturation and vibrancy to enhance the color and give it more warmth. I used a blue filter to make the sky a bit more blue.

Another shot with the iPhone, sharpness reduced, saturation turned down but a slight bump in vibrance

This has been done so many time by so many clever people. I just wanted to try my hand at making the bike in a tiny version.

No split toning, just what the automatic white balance did out of frost-covered bushes at the end of golden hour

Loved the bokeh effects here from my Auto-Takumar 55/2.2 (it's fun to zoom in).

However, the image was very washed out, as it was taken into a low sun. So I've gone to town with the pp - adding a lot of contrast, light/dark filters, and then a film colour saturation filter. Hope it's not too over-done!

n. *Saturation:

In color theory, saturation or purity refers to the intensity of a specific hue. It is based on the color's purity; a highly saturated hue has a vivid, intense color, while a less saturated hue appears more muted and grey. The saturation of a color is determined by a combination of light intensity and how much it is distributed across the spectrum of different wavelengths. The purest colour is achieved by using just one wavelength at a high intensity such as in laser light. If the intensity drops the saturation also drops.

There's been a change in the weather. After many long weeks of compulsory irrigation duty for us, rain has at last fallen. One or two of the showers have been torrential, as is shown in this shot featuring our neighbour's viburnum.

Sometimes its is fun to slide the color temperature and saturation sliders all the way to the right. Call it impressionism - the mind's recollection of what the colors should be like. These Virginia Creepers in deep shade were actually quite dull originally, but the computer helps them realize their latent potential.

Captured this with three RAW shots at -2..0..+2 EV. Digital blending in Photoshop CS6. Increased the overall saturation with Hue/Saturation in Photoshop. Curve adjustment to increase the overall contrast. 1 layer mask in soft light mode at 50% gray, using brush tool to lighten and darken some areas of the image, to bring out details. Topaz DeNoise to reduce noise. Topaz Clarity filter to increase contrast and color.

After the rain. No messing with saturation, it was just a very monochromatic morning after really heavy overnight rain, with one small patch of blue sky briefly above.
