Luganville is the second largest city in Vanuatu. Its population is 13,167. The city is called Santo by people from Vanuatu's northern islands, who use Luganville as their big city.

The Campo Santo of Ghent, Belgium, is a famous Roman Catholic public burial ground in Sint-Amandsberg. The Campo Santo has been declared an historical monument by the government.

The Roman Catholic bourgeoisie of Ghent favoured this place for important burials: almost all great Catholic families have their graves here. Sited at the top of a hill 19 meters high, it takes its name from the Roman original.

This is still the burial place of famous Catholic artists, nobility and politicians from Ghent.

Santos is a Linne's Two-toed Sloth in the Marwell tropical house.

I am very fond of sloths, I have a silver and rose gold sloth necklace and a sloth ornament in the garden, so it is always a bonus to see one in real life.

The Santos veem, the former Blauwhoedenveem (J.P. Stok Wzn en J.J. Kanters), (veem=warehouse), was built in 1902 to store coffee shipped from the port of Santos (adjacent to Sao Paulo) in Brazil. In its time, it was the highest and most modern warehouse in Rotterdam. The structure of the building: load-bearing walls with riveted cast iron columns placed in a square grid, supporting the six wooden floors.

The building was abandoned in 2001 and is being transformed (Renner Hainke Wirth Zirn Architekten & WDJ Architecten) to accommodate the Nederlands Foto Museum. One of the big spatial interventions is shown here: the new crown of the building where a restaurant will be created.

This is number 8 of the Santos album.
