Cruises to nearby islands, the volcano of Santorini and the small island of Thirassia depart from the port in Fira(Old port). Old port serving the Santorini before the bigger port of Anthinios took over. This old port became a tourist hub of sort, a small town of seaside cafés, boat rental, duty-free stores, restaurants, taverns and small shops where you can buy souvenirs or traditionsl local products.
Athinios port abstains 12 km from Fira and serves all the major ferry companies that come from Athens (Piraeus port),Myconos, Crete and other greek islands. At Athinios port you will fiind markets, rent a car company, taverns, and restaurants.
In case you need more information on ferry departures and arrivals at the port of Santorini, call at (+30 22860) 22239.

Although not a railway orientated photograph there is still some transport aspects about it with the Sailship and the vessel that I took the shot from Ha Ha!! By all accounts the "Santorini" Sunset" is supposed to be one of the most spectacular anywhere and this shot doesn't really do it justice, but I thought I would post it as a memory!
