Located on Mesa vouno, 396 m. above sea level. It was founded in the 9th century B.C. by Dorian colonists whose leader was Theras, and continued to be inhabited until the early Byzantine period. The preserved ruins belong to the Hellenistic and Roman phases of the city. The residential area and the larger part of the cemeteries were excavated by German archaeologists between 1895 and 1902.

~ In Santorini, Greece I found this fantastic sculpture sitting a top of a building, RIGHT on the roof's edge.
It looks to me like if he leaned JUST 1 more inch forward he'd fall right off the building. Take dive to the dirt.
But he wouldn't simply drop like a ton of bricks and lay there like a dead fish.....because....
(In my imagination....)
Here's a guy who's lost his sense of self.
He BREATHING, but he's not LIVING!!!!
He's bored, but not bored enough to make a change, make a move, or even dream.
He just sits day after day on the edge of the roof, LOOKING out at the horizon, but not SEEING a damn thing.
His eyes are glazed over and his mind is barely buzzing.
BUT THEN----something....SOMETHING...far off is SOMETHING!!!!
He feels the LIGHT warming his face,
It melts the glaze off his eyes. Clear & fresh.
His scalp heats up & his brain starts to tingle.
His head gets full & fuller & fuller of feelings & wonder.
His neck can't reach out any further & his full, heavy head pulls the rest of his body off balance, it teeters before it sets his body, his whole being in motion,
but not motion forward, it's simply DOWN. He's falling.
But then his BODY starts to FEEL....
It's the sensation of gravity that pulls him down to earth.
Then his skin that feels lightly tickled & caressed as the air breezes by in the fall.
Then it's the pain & shock from the jolt of hitting the ground....THAT WAKES HIM UP!!!!
The smack of the earth shoots lightening & urges & ideas & wants & needs & ACTION all through his veins!
It wakes up all the dead cells and his being is BACK.
And like a badass on a mission he races to that something he saw on the horizon.
