Firá (Greek: Φηρά, pronounced [fiˈra], official name Φηρά - Thira) is the modern capital of the Greek Aegean island of Santorini (Thera). A traditional settlement, "Firá" derives its name from an alternative pronunciation of "Thíra", the ancient name of the island itself.

Fira is a city of whitewashed houses built on the edge of the 400 metres (1,312 feet) high caldera on the western edge of the semi-circular island of Thera. The two main museums of interest are the Archaeological Museum of Thera, 30 metres (98 feet) east of the cable car entrance, and the Museum of Prehistoric Thera at the southeast corner of the White Orthodox Cathedral of Ypapanti ([it]), built on the site of an earlier church destroyed in the 1956 Amorgos earthquake. The town also hosts a number of churches, including the Cathedral of Ypapanti and the Three Bells of Fira.

Classic Santorini shot. I've been here twice and it still looks just as beautiful as the first time :)

Santorini is famous for the much photographed blue domed and colorful churches that can be seen in the entire island. Each church bears witness to a unique history and has a feast to celebrate, upon which great festivals take place in the villages. Religious plays a significant role in the life of the locals.

The pure white of most of the homes and other buildings on the Greek Island of Santorini is spotted with dashes of color and topped by beautiful old windmills and churches. Santorini is in the Southern Aegean Sea, about 120 miles southeast of the Greek mainland. It lies on the rim of a volcanic caldera, surrounding a central lagoon about 7 by 4 miles in size. The walls of the Caldera are roughly 1000 feet high, and the buildings hug the edge of the top. From a distance the white of all the buildings look like snow capping the rim.

The islands of the Cyclades comprise one of the most enchanting parts of Greece, and Santorini my be the prettiest of the Cyclades.

Did not shoot too many details in Santorini. Sometimes I get lost in the over all view. This is one of the rare exeptions. A part of the old castle and a church wich is not painted blue and white, just a little different from the normal Santorini look.

Santorini ( officially Thira); is an island in the southern Aegean Sea, about 200 km (120 mi) southeast of Greece's mainland. It is the largest island of a small, circular archipelago which bears the same name and is the remnant of a volcanic caldera.
