This is another model I designed for a workshop about contemporary origami, with the aim of demonstrating some techniques used in modern origami design while being easy enough for a complete novice to fold. This model is based on a 16×16 square grid (though folded in a way which hides any grid creases), features a color change for the display, and of course the subject matter is modern as well. This model could be extended by adding pleats on the keyboard to simulate rows of keys, but that would ruin its simplicity.
In order to fold a model close to actual size, I hadto make my own duo paper: a sandwich of Murano and parchment paper.

Paper: Hexagon cutted from sandwichpaper painted with watercolour pencil

When I learned this model, it reminded me immediately after curling the leaves of a water lily. I had a self-painted green hexagon with me, but didn't use it, as it was white on the other side. Back home, I painted the other side pink-lilac and made another fold of this wonderful model. Sinking was a bit tedious, for the paper was not as easy to handle as Kraft but still lots of fun. The sun was about to set, when I was finished, so I rushed to take photos. Like I intented it hopefully resembles a water lily.

I gave away almost all flowers I had lying around for a garden themed birthday present. This had two advantages: less origami in our flat (yes, there can be too much) and I began to refold some of my most beloved flower models.
This is a differently coloured twin of my older fold.

Yessss ! This is the result of my third try to create sandwich paper. I'm still not completely satisfied with the result but I understood the making process.
It took a long time to prepare but it was worth it !
The chicken breast was cooked in sandwich paper and turned out to be very tender and juicy.
Recipe for 4 servings:
- 1 tsp black pepper corns
- 2 cloves
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp ginger powder
- 4 tbs olive oil
- 1.5 untreated (organic) lemon
- 4 chicken breasts (ca. 225 g each)
- salt
- 1 red bell pepper (ca. 250 g)
- 4 pieces of sandwich paper (ca. 25 x 25 cm each)
- 4 bay leaves
- 4 small twigs of rosemary
Preparation time: 30 min
Preparation:
1. Pound pepper corns and cloves thoroughly. Mix with ground nutmeg and ginger powder. Stir spices with olive oil and the grated peel of half a lemon.
2. Put the chicken breast into a bowl and mix well with the spice oil, salt. Cut bell pepper into very fine stripes.
3. Place each chicken breast on a piece of sandwich paper. Put the pepper stripes on top by adding a bay leaf and a twig of rosemary. Peel one lemon thinly and cut into fine stripes. Sprinkle over the chicken and close the sandwich paper by making little parcels.
4. Bake in the pre-heated oven at 210 °C for 15 minutes; second rail from bottom. (fan not recommendable).
Note: For the next time I'll take ground pepper and cloves powder... As I did not get rosemary twigs I left them... I used two sheets of sandwich paper instead of one... I used the fan of the oven nonetheless...

Hähnchenbrust mit vier Gewürzen I
Rote Paprikaschote in sehr feine Streifen schneiden.
