Jaspyr likes his new bed/lookout platform.
He had been sitting/lounging here, looking out into the yard, and down over the valley, for hours, yesterday. Here, he is just settling down for a wee sleep, having decided that the new bed is comfortable and warm. His eyes aren’t fully closed - he knew I had the camera in my hand...

Dreams are where our minds try to make sense of everything in context of what we think we already know. Sometimes they can be a surreal mix of memories and new sensory information. Mostly they are benign, because the human mind tends to protect itself by suppressing our most unpleasant experiences, but you probably cannot suppress them all. A Nightmare is also a Dream - Wake Up!

what would you do when you can't sleep caused by a jetlag? I was looking for hours and hours through the window and i saw a lot of stars outside but no sandman. So i thought arround 02:30: let's go outside and start searching for the sandman arround Orion ;-)
To be honest: it was a bit scary in this foggy circumstances to stand still for about 25 sec. in the middle of the night with the noise from the trees and small animals arround me. After taking a few shots i went home and finally i fell asleep after a nice conversation with my good old friend Ruby Port 20%
I'm not familiar with this kind of photography so it's an amature image ;-)

Sandman's coming is a title from the Delines, and as we're seeing Richmond Fontaine tomorrow night, it's fine. Wet sand and a sunset at low tide, makes for a perfect evening for me. Southerndown is always a first port of call.
A candy-colored clown they call the sandman
Tiptoes to my room every night
Just to sprinkle stardust and to whisper
Go to sleep, everything is alright
Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream
Make her the cutest that I've ever seen
Give her two lips like roses and clover
Then tell her that her lonely nights are over
Sandman, I'm so alone
Don't have nobody to call my own
So please turn on your magic beam
Mr. Sandman, bring me a dream
So it's actually the ferry 'May Gibbs' entering the frame, on its first trek across the harbour, just after sunrise in Sydney.
BUT, with the mega band 'Metallica' currently in Sydney, and performing at the Accor (Olympic) Stadium, here is their brilliant and evocative song 'Enter Sandman':

The 'May Gibbs' was photographed from the Blues Point Reserve on a rare morning that I ventured out of bed at 4.30am and bolted down the M2 Motorway to reach Sydney Harbour just before dawn.
In the distance (under the bridge and beyond) you can see the silhouetted shape of Fort Denison.

Say your prayers little one
Don't forget, my son
To include everyone
Tuck you in, warm within
Keep you free from sin
'Till the sandman he comes
Sleep with one eye open
Gripping your pillow tight
Exit, light
Enter, night
Take my hand
We're off to never-never land
Somethings wrong, shut the light
Heavy thoughts tonight
And they aren't of Snow White
Dreams of war, dreams of liars
Dreams of dragon's fire
And of things that will bite
Sleep with one eye open
Gripping your pillow tight
Exit, light
Enter, night
Take my hand
We're off to never-never land
Now I lay me down to sleep
Now I lay me down to sleep
I pray the Lord my soul to keep
I pray the Lord my soul to keep
If I die before I wake
If I die before I wake
I pray the lord my soul to take
I pray the lord my soul to take
Hush little baby, don't say a word
And never mind that noise you heard
It's just the beasts under your bed
In your closet, in your head
Exit, light
Enter, night
Grain of sand
Exit, light
Enter, night
Take my hand
We're off to never-never land
Yeah!
We're off to never-never land
Take my hand
We're off to never-never land
Take my hand

The Winchester & Western “sandman” is Winchester-bound approaching Gainesboro, Virginia. The ex-Norfolk & Western RS11 now languishes in the Delaware-Lackawanna dead line, while the former Southern Pacific S6 is razor blades.
Just a better paint job on the original version I did a while ago. The sand matches LEGO sand colors better.
Another Happy Birthday , this time to Beverley who's probably basking in a heatwave, while we're at minus 10 in a blizzard :)) Sandman's coming, is by The Delines, and is beautiful, and perfect as we always share sandy stories. Mmmmm fish and chips

- Nice folklore:
The Sandman is a traditional character in many children's stories and books. In Scandinavian folklore, he is said to sprinkle sand into the eyes of children at night to bring on sleep and dreams. The grit or "sleep" (rheum) in one's eyes upon waking is the supposed result of the Sandman's work the previous night.
- Not so nice story:
E.T.A. Hoffmann (1776–1822) wrote a short story in 1816 titled Der Sandmann, which showed how sinister such a character could be made. According to the protagonist's nurse, he threw sand in the eyes of children who wouldn't sleep, with the result of those eyes falling out and being collected by the Sandman, who then takes the eyes to his nest on the Moon and uses them to feed his children.

That goes by the name of the Sandman

Originally named Bandon Light, Coquille River Light was commissioned in 1895 and lit on February 29, 1896, to guide mariners past the dangerous shifting sandbars into the Coquille River and harbor at Bandon...In September 1936, a large wildfire swept through the surrounding area, and destroyed most of Bandon... The town soon became bankrupt as a result of the decline in shipping and Coquille Light was shut down in 1939 and replaced by an automated light on the south jetty...There is an ongoing effort to restore the old light to her once grand glory...
