I wish everyone a peaceful day. As if a pandemic was not scary enough we have all the violence going on as well. I think as humans we are way better than this.
These Sand Cherry flowers do not last more than a week. I am glad I got a picture of a few this year.

I usually can never get good shots of my sand cherry tree. It is the same every year. The two weeks they are in bloom in the spring the wind is generally screwing with my shots. Same every "F'n" year.
Stay safe
Tips for Helios Bokeh:
- Helios Lens is a much cheaper alternative for macro shooting and an extension tube can be added to amplified the effect.
- Apparently you need a pretty good distance between the main subject and the background so the little light spots and details can register into that swirl shape.
- To add more notisble crazy bokah, the front and the rear elements of Helios lens could be reversed.
- Due to manual focus, make sure to take lots of photos to increase the chance of getting a perfect one.

It started out bright and sunny this morning but the clouds soon rolled in. Consequently, I decided to embrace the shadows on this Sliders Sunday. Hope all the mothers on Flickr have a wonderful day!
Sand Cherry 2...
Our sand cherry tree has thousands of tiny white and pink blossoms on it again this year, they really stand out against the reddish leaves. . it is really amazing just how small they are; this tree is a dwarf and after nearly fifteen years is barely six feet tall.

Sandcherry - Prunus pumila
Painterly rendering of Sandcherry leaves emerging in April.
I've come to really appreciated the Sandcherry shrubs that are planted in public places. Their red-purple leaves are refreshing when green is all around and their very lovely small pink flowers are a delicate treat that wane all too soon like many Spring flowering shrubs and trees. I'm already looking forward to an eyeful this coming April.
The parents were flying around me & chirping loudly so I knew a baby must be nearby. I kept my distance as I saw it in the Purple Sandcherry bush, but that didn't stop the mother from flying at my head! I soon discovered that they had at least 2 babies & the other was in our Red Maple tree nearby. I left them alone to feed their babies.

These are lovely in spring bearing many small flowers. I don't think they bear fruit, at least this one hasn't.

Sand Cherry...
Last October we had a sudden rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightening, I get all excited during thunder storms for reasons I don't fully understand.
As soon as it let up. I grabbed my camera and headed into the back yard. Our sand cherry tree was covered in large rain drops that made the leaves so heavy they sagged towards the ground.

Sand Cherry in full bloom.
Not now, though. This was taken last year. It seems that spring here is a few weeks late.
It looks like we may be getting mild temperatures at last next Monday. +3 Celsius then it dips below freezing from Tuesday onwards. A teaser for sure but I will take it.
I wait for the sand cherries every year. Every year it is hard to get a good shot. Or a more DoF shot. They are always moving in the subtle breeze.
Happy Saturday
