Today's image again comes from the Parkville Nature Sanctuary located in Kansas City, MO. (actually Parkville a suburb inside the metro). This hiking trail has two small waterfalls with this being the second one. While small in stature it provides wonderful visuals as you hike the trail.

Whenever I visit the Applecross Peninsula, I make sure that I get a photo of one of my favourite trees. This was the first time I had ever seen it with a clear blue sky behind it, and it just seemed even more beautiful.

"The name Applecross, whilst seemingly of English origin, is a reinterpretation of an earlier Aporcrossan. This is a Pictish name, meaning ‘confluence of the Crosan river’.

Applecross River is in Gaelic Abhainn Crosan. The Gaelic form of the name today is A’ Chomraich ‘the sanctuary’ after the church land of Maol Rubha who founded a church here.

It was for many years more easily approached by sea than by land. That it was considered more as an island than mainland is reinforced by the fact that Gaelic speakers refer to being in Applecross as air a’ Chomraich ‘on Applecross’ a preposition often used for islands."

the sanctuary is in the heart... find it.... and take it somewhere to sit once in a while. Then listen.

Igreja de Santa Maria do Castelo, Sesimbra, Portugal

Located within Sesimbra Castle, the church of Santa Maria (Saint Mary) was built in 1160 to commemorate Christian reconquest of the land. However, it underwent various modifications that altered its original structure. What can currently be seen is practically an 18th century church. The very simple interior has but a single nave. On the ceiling, there is a 17th century canvas depicting the crowning of the Virgin. The walls are fully covered in 18th century blue and white tiles featuring scenes from Mary´s life. There is also the 17th century carving on the retables belonging to the seven altars. In the sacristy, it is still possible to admire a priceless image of Nossa Senhora dos Homens (Our Lady of Men), in alabaster, dated to the 13th century.

Bagan formerly Pagan is an ancient city from the 9th to 13th centuries,. The city was the capital of Myanmar. Bagan is one of Myanmar’s main attractions. It was the capital of Bagan empire, where Theravada Buddhism was the main religion. The area also known as the Bagan Archaeological Zone, occupies an impressive 26-sq-mile area. Marco Polo described Bagan as one of the finest sights in the world. Despite centuries of neglect, looting, erosion, regular earthquakes, not to mention questionable restoration, this temple-studded plain remains a remarkably impressive and unforgettable vision. Bagan’s kings commissioned more than 4000 Buddhist temples. During our visit to Bagan, we rented a bicycle and were allowed to drive along any Buddhist temple. The Ywa Huang Gyi temple is one of the most underrated in Bagan. Not listed as a must-see in the guides and not highlighted on the tourist maps, the Ywa Huang Gyi temple is beautiful yet understated. The temple is welcoming with only a low wall surrounding it and no gateways or outer staircases. When we stopped by in the late afternoon, there were no people visiting. It was quiet and peaceful. Just the building and the its grassy backdrop.

We visit Ywa Huang Gyi in Bagan. It's is one of the most underrated temple in Bagan. Located northeast of Old Bagan in the Nyaung-U part of the city, I found the red-bricked sanctuary as were cyling casually along Anawrahta Road and we went off the road. Photo of BieJee, Samantha and Kanitha cycling towards Ywa Huang Gyi temple.

We fietsen langs alle bijzondere boeddhistische tempels in Bagan.

Tributary to the Greenbrier River on the Greenbrier River Trail

Earlier in the day while I was shooting the inside of this church I had a long chat with a well spoken elderly lady who was living in poverty. She did not have any good things to say about a religion and a church built by the rich for the rich.

The homeless person getting ready to bed down for the night is not the focus of this photo, it's the rich opulence that surrounds that person.

The present sanctuary was dedicated in 1887 after being located in four other locations around downtown Macon. The Sanctuary contains many interested Christian symbols to enhance our worship. Among them: the presence of the trefoil (a symbol of the Trinity); the presence of the quatrefoil (a traditional Christian symbol of 4 overlapping circles); a beautiful stained-glass rose window; and 12 beautiful stained glass windows depicting the life of Jesus. Also of architectural note, the inside of the sanctuary roof is shaped like an upside-down ship’s hull, using the traditional Christian symbol of a boat to reflect that safety and sanctuary can be found in this holy space.

Beneath the sanctuary is the Great Room, a smaller gathering place and home to the Faithful Followers Sunday School Department. It was christened “The Great Room” in 2004, after a renovation, in appreciation of “The Greatest Generation,” the older members of FBCX who given their time, resources, and talents through the years to make First Baptist a place of worship, discipleship, missions and fellowship.

Commander TK-5011’s Report: The Jedi were caught by surprise. The few that had been up early, in the fields, had been killed. Judging by their braids they must've been older padawans. Inside, the elderly Ithorian cut down six of my men, before she was killed. Another human Jedi assisted her. He was disarmed by the Inquisitors, brought outside, and killed. My men rounded up around seven younger students, all escorted to the offworld transport. The remaining Jedi have been captured and sent to Sgt. Taran Rackham for interrogation.

I lost another three men to an unhinged training droid, but our Inquisitors made short work of it.

We have secured a dozen Holocrons from the Jedi vault, along with a few other artifacts.

I take full responsibility for the men I lost, and I accept any disciplinary action. I consider the mission a success and I am certain Lord Cerato will be pleased.

TK-5011 out.

Montserrat is a multi-peaked mountain range near Barcelona, in Catalonia, Spain. It is part of the Catalan Pre-Coastal Range. The main peaks are Sant Jeroni, Montgrós and Miranda de les Agulles.

It is well known as the site of the Benedictine abbey, Santa Maria de Montserrat, which hosts the Virgin of Montserrat sanctuary.

Mount Temple

Herbert Lake

Banff National Park

The title, I believe, is self-evident. :)

A day at the Reifel Bird Sanctuary.

It is a temple with a history of 1200 years. It's a wonderful sanctuary.

The magnificent Mt. Hiei, standing 848 meters tall and with five distinct peaks, has been worshipped as a spiritual mountain since ancient times. When Saicho, the founder of the Tendai sect of Buddhism, opened Enryakuji Temple in the eighth century, the entire mountain became one large training site for the spiritual protection of the nation. Many of the monks responsible for the varied sects of Japanese Buddhism started out from here, including Shinran, Dogen, and Nichiren. This has led to Mt. Hiei being called the "the roots of Japanese Buddhism." Many of the temple’s buildings are reconstructions from the 16th century or later, but the ten national treasures and more than fifty important cultural assets housed within speak to the rich history and culture of the temple. The view of Lake Biwa from Mt. Hiei is also absolutely spectacular, and has been compared to the pureland where Yakushi, the principle object of worship at Enryakuji Temple, is said to dwell.
