On April 20, 2010, the Deepwater Horizon Drilling Platform exploded and sank, causing an enormous oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. U.S. Geological Survey field offices responded immediately by organizing teams to take pre-spill sediment and water samples in order to establish a baseline survey. This baseline will be used to determine the scope and impact of the oil spill. Shown is one of the pieces of equipment used for water sampling.
Actually I don't like the final version of tonemapped HDR sample given by the webmaster. I think for such unique software like Photomatix there should be more cooler images\samples.
I played with 3 original shots. This is my version of well known sample.

Wessex Archaeology staff processing the seabed samples in a wet sieve. They are searching for prehistoric finds such as lithics (stone/flint) and bones.
Samples are placed into a nitrogen vapor container to deep freeze perishable samples during transport to the lab. For molecular analysis, the waters must be collected, filtered, processed and flash frozen within 12 minutes to preserve the genetic material within the sample.
Here, the biologist samples water from the Indian River Lagoon. The researcher is measuring station waters to filter for chlorophyll concentrations. Researchers also collect samples for phytoplankton community structure. These analyses include microscopy, flow cytometry and molecular techniques. Scattered about are 8-liter carboys that will be filled with station waters for stable isotope work conducted by the Smithsonian Institute.
IAEA marine experts and Japanese scientists collect water samples in coastal waters near the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station. Since the accident at the plant in March 2011, the Japanese authorities have been continually monitoring the levels of radioactivity in sea water and publishing the results. In an effort to verify the accuracy of these results and increase public confidence in what is being reported, the IAEA is undertaking joint sampling missions. The water samples were shared between the IAEA Environment Laboratories and Japanese laboratories. They will be analysed independently and the results will be compared to check the quality of the analyses and document the reliability of data.
