Joe and Darren had a hockey game this morning in town, and Flo worked at the church nursery, so Zofia and I tagged along to church. Afterwards, we left Joe home and the rest of us headed to Frederick for a leisurely afternoon. The day wound down with a walk around the neighborhood, the abduction of a rock from a construction site to hold down Pax's leash, and a bit of reading.

George explains proper sampling technique for 14C in DIC (dissolved inorganic carbon). We'll use this to track what's left of the "bomb peak" of radiocarbon from atomic weapons testing in order to show how long the water has been away from the ocean surface. I'll probably be seeing this sample again in the AMS lab at WHOI after I get back.
