small sample using seeding, cross stitch & knots to explore the mix of the different colours. Loved this header card way of mounting. The small pic was on the back of the card I used as my design so I added this over some black 'running' stitch lines.
Strobist: Cactus KF36 fired into shoot thru at 1/4 power. Shoot thru positioned directly down firing into DIY macro studio. Small Cameron SLS-006s slave strobe firing at right thru tracing paper diffusion sheet into macro studio. White foam core reflector to front of studio. Triggered by V4's and captured w/Olympus e420

Here's a piece of core sample that I brought home and scrubbed clean. It is 7/8 inch in diameter and a tad over 3 inches long. This one is quartz.
