Cattle egret, Bubulcus ibis, Bangau Kerbau

The species is usually found with cattle and other large grazing and browsing animals, and catches small creatures disturbed by the mammals. Studies have shown that cattle egret foraging success is much higher when foraging near a large animal than when feeding singly. When foraging with cattle, it has been shown to be few times more successful in capturing prey than when foraging alone. Its performance is similar when it follows farm machinery, but it is forced to move more. In urban situations cattle egrets have also been observed foraging in peculiar situations like railway lines and lately in garbage dumping areas.

This species loves to play hide & seek inside bushes and thick branches making it notoriously difficult to get a clear shot. And normally prefer dark or dimly lit areas. We were lucky that day to get a few seconds of lucky break when this bird suddenly came out in the open and perched for 2-3 seconds. Normally seen in a pair of two or three birds.

Location: Selangor, Malaysia

Distribution: Malay Peninsula from southern Thailand to Singapore, and in Sumatra.

108) Ferruginous Flycatcher

Ferruginous Flycatcher, Muscicapa ferruginea, Sambar Sampah

This species originated from Himalayas region in North eastern India and south western China. The bird winters in the warmer area of Southeast Asia including Malaysia during the year end months.. Its natural habitat is subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. Can be found in highlands area and also in lowland area such as Congkak and Bukit Cherakah. This bird stays at the forest edge, remaining in the same spot the whole day. Normally lower storey but at time rarely in the middle storey.

Bila dah takde burung lain, gagak pun jadik.

Muscicapa ferruginea

Sambar Sampah

One of the migrant brown flycatchers that occur in Malaysia that breed in North Asia but winter in Malaysia. They sally (catch while flying) for insects from prominent perch overlooking a forest clearing, and usually return back to the same perch. Migrant Brown Flycatchers defend their winter feeding territories by chasing away other local flycatchers. Males and Females are similar, unlike most other flycatchers.

Tahunan, kiriman.

Tanggul bendungan jebol, ibukota termasuk istana negara terkepung banjir besar.

Justru saya salut sama Gubernur Jokowi.

*berusaha ngeles alias cari-cari alasan*---
