This is another one of the salvaged photos from the Texas Road side of our former home in Tewksbury, Massachusetts. It is one of the butterfly photos I took in 2009 when I was in Florida visiting with my friend, Debbie. I have it hung on part of the dining room wall.

It rained and was still drizzling plus the added spray from the crashing waves when I took this image. Challenging and it wasn't fun having to gently wipe the filter during the exposure every so often. I must be mad! I thought I had to at least salvage the trip as the sunset I was hoping didn't happen. The weather forecaster let me down but the tide was spot on. I'll just have to plan for another visit....

I'm testing out the Luminar4 beta on some older shots. Aside from a noticeable performance increase, they have done (IMO) a good job at simplifying access to the tools (some may disagree). While the new AI tools are interesting, Luminar remains incredibly useful for fine tweaking and getting usable images out of mediocre originals. (Hint: Always shoot RAW format).

When I first bought this salvage yard in Dec. '99, all the vehicles were just bunched together in the back of the lot. The owner had closed the yard a few months prior and was just using the place to store some of his cars from his used car lot in town. So the first project I had to tackle was organized the vehicles into catagories and separating them so I could get to them without moving several to get to the one I wanted.

Fortunately caught the dough before the explosion and managed to salvage enough for a pizza.

This was taken during a storm in St. Joseph, Michigan in 2003. That's both the inner and outer lighthouse there. It is also 1 of 3 photos of it that I took that morning (among many), each taken seconds apart. Each was taken so close that when put next to each other, you can progressively see how the storm waves moved further over each of them. It was so cold and windy that day that we had to go to my friend Gary Martin's car to change each roll of film.

Earlier this month, for the second weekend in a row the New Hampshire Northcoast planned on running a Sunday extra train to Boston. The large train was to have all four units with the GP18 making a rare appearance leading. Just before leaving the pit, the railroad found out the night crew to take the train to Boston had been cancelled. Rather than completely pull the plug they ran a nine car sand shuttle along with an empty steel car to Tri City in Rochester. All was not lost since the power ended up being the GP18 solo. In this shot the train is slowing down approaching a 10mph speedo at the Rt 153 crossing south of Sanbornville. The Conway branch always brings back fond memories of trying to find the B&M and early NHN gravel trains with my dad and older brother on our summer vacations to Wolfeborough. I never imagined that later in life it would become my hometown shortline. The Rt 153 crossing was once protected by the only active wig-wag I can remember seeing. The wig-wag lasted into the early NHN era. Unfortunately at my age all I have is crappy 110 prints of a train passing it.
