And to those that have died,
To keep our children free,
Our loyalty, around you, is tied,
Always, to water, this freedom tree.
Today we went on a lovely long walk to make the most of our last Sunday in this glorious September sunshine before we travel. We walked the River Wey near Wisley, one of our favourite spots. We came across a flowering ivy bush which was covered in Red Admiral butterflies. I don't think I've seen so many in one place since my childhood where we had a buddleia in the garden which they loved. They were relatively easy to capture today as they were too busy concentrating on the sweet nectar, along with hover flies, honey bees and beetles. I could have watched them for hours, and would have done is husband was not getting a little bored...!

Joan Jett And The Blackhearts Lyrics
I saw him dancing there by the record machine
I knew he must have been about seventeen
The beat was going strong
Playing my favorite song
And I could tell it wouldn't be long till he was with me, yeah me
And I could tell it wouldn't be long till he was with me, yeah me
Singing, I love rock and roll
So put another dime in the jukebox, baby
I love rock and roll
So come and take your time and dance with me
Ow!
He smiled, so I got up and asked for his name
But that don't matter, he said, 'cause it's all the same
He said, "Can I take you home
Where we can be alone?"
And next we were moving on, he was with me, yeah me
Next we were moving on, he was with me, yeah me
Singing, I love rock and roll
So put another dime in the jukebox, baby
I love rock and roll
So come and take your time and dance with me
Ow!
He said, "Can I take you home
Where we can be alone?"
Next we're moving on, he was with me, yeah me
And we'll be moving on and singing that same old song, yeah with me
Singing, I love rock and roll
So put another dime in the jukebox, baby
I love rock and roll
So come and take your time and dance with me
I love rock and roll
So put another dime in the jukebox, baby
I love rock and roll
So come and take your time and dance with
I love rock and roll
So put another dime in the jukebox, baby
I love rock and roll
So come and take your time and dance with
I love rock and roll
So put another dime in the jukebox, baby
I love rock and roll
So come and take your time and dance with
I love rock and roll
So put another dime in the jukebox, baby
I love rock and roll
So come and take your time and dance with me
Setting sun highlights another cold winter day, as a plane soars across the sky leaving a vapor trail.
For this image I switched to MF as I could not focus on AF ....I was thrilled he remained still while I transitioned! As far as I know ....I have never photographed a Pond Spreadwing before on out property.

I love the way the sun highlights this grass, emphasizing its sinuous stem and alternating flower heads / seeds.
I think this might be:
Common name: Italian rye grass
Botanical name: Lolium multiforum.
Family: Poaceae.

Built in 1566, the Saluting Battery is Malta’s ancient ceremonial platform, from where gun salutes are fired throughout the year to mark state occasions, national holidays and to greet visiting naval ships to the island. Between Monday and Saturday, a time gun is fired at 12.00 (noon) to mark the passage of midday, and again at 16.00, as it was done for centuries until commercial clocks became the norm in the 20th century.
Sisters we are everywhere
Warriors, your country needs you
If you're ready ladies, better keep steady
Ready, aim, shoot
Don't need ammunition. On a mission
And we'll hit you with the truth
Representing all the women
Salute, salute!

Santa María della Salute is one of the most important religious buildings in Venice. Its striking dome is depicted in most of the city’s postcards.
Salute, as it is commonly known, was founded in 1631. The basilica was built to commemorate the end of a terrible outbreak of the plague that began in 1630, and killed a large portion of the Veneto population. It was dedicated to Our Lady of Health (Salute in Italian).
