This saltwater marsh is a protected area which allows baby salmon to take refuge until they get large enough to swim to the Pacific Ocean about 500 meters in the distance.

Taken on my trip to the Daintree Rain Forest in Queensland in 2016, from the safety of a flat bottomed boat. These things lie dormant for hours, waiting for an unsuspecting animal, or tourist, to pass by!

Badwater basin, Death Valley National Park. It rained in the park yesterday, and given ocean temperatures, the odds of an extended wet El Nino weather pattern this winter are being presented as 80%. Hopefully we'll get water on the salt flats several times this season!

Saltwater crocodiles are the largest of all crocodiles, they often can be found in marshlands near the coast, this one i saw at Sungei Buloh wetlands, Singapore

The Saltwater Crocodile (Crocodylus porosus), the largest living reptile on Earth, resting in its natural habitat. Known for their immense power and stealth, these apex predators rule the rivers, swamps, and coastal waters across South and Southeast Asia. Their prehistoric presence is both awe-inspiring and humbling—a reminder of nature’s raw strength and resilience.

on this day three years ago, Karen and I went across the border to the Saltwater Cafe for a coffeklatch. The place was hopping and we scored a window seat. I don't know if it is still in business, it is still an iffy proposition to cross the border for a small jaunt. The businesses in Point Roberts are suffering, it is sad to think about, I'm looking forward to returning there someday.
