The last structural steel was put in place today on the building. A tree (a strange custom) and American flag (another odd custom) was placed on the top of the building in celebration. View from my apartment about 1-1/2 miles away.
As I suspected when I heard that the lights atop the Salesforce tower would be installed by Jim Campbell, it would be disappointing and it is. I saw his work at Grace Cathedral & was not impressed. I see nothing original in the installation on top of the Salesforce building. He has images of people taken from the street level that show them walking, and often an image of a woman prancing around like a stripper. I have not seen anything original yet. For the tallest building in the city I had expected more.
181 Fremont tonight has bars of light dancing up & down at the top of the building. Totally uninteresting to me. It reminds me of the graph on a stereo that shows the volume levels. It is a beautiful building during the day though. I am glad that it is far away from my view so that the lights are not an annoyance to me.
Bus drivers will learn how to use the facility before the San Francisco bus transit center will be open to the public.
Some of the antique buses on the bus deck today 8/11/2018. I got a true sense of how big the center is. I will go back when it is less crowded.
