Salamis is an ancient Greek city-state on the east coast of Cyprus, now under occupation by Turkey.
According to tradition, the founder of Salamis was Teucer, son of Telamon, who could not return home after the Trojan war because he had failed to avenge his brother Ajax.
However, the public buildings uncovered at the site date to the post-Classical period. The Temple of Zeus Salaminios, whose cult was established, according to tradition, by Teucer himself, must have existed since the foundation of the city; the extant remains date to the late Hellenistic period.

On the afternoon of Tuesday, July 4th, 2023, M433-04 crosses the Upper Bay Bridge (also known as the Lehigh Valley Railroad Lift Bridge) slowly passing in front of the New York City Skyline with CSXT8842, a former Conrail SD40-2 (ex CR6473) leading the train with a long string of refrigerated boxcars behind the locomotives, bringing back memories from years ago when the “Tropicana Juice Train” ran between Bradenton, Florida and Jersey City, New Jersey. The boldly standing Freedom Tower in the background and the recent 22nd anniversary of the 9/11/2001 terrorist attacks keeps as a constant reminder of the lives lost on that day.
