thank goodness my friend got this shot if me holding the chickadee and sent it to me... it's such a magical place when they land on you with no fear, it's like being in a Disney movie!!!
The Elizabeth A. Morton National Wildlife Refuge is a 187-acre National Wildlife Refuge in Noyack, New York. Much of the refuge is situated on a peninsula surrounded by Noyack and Little Peconic bays.
All kinds of birds are found at Elizabeth Morton Bird Sanctuary.... but these big ones won't land in your hand!!!
They are beautiful birds with wonderful feather details and will rush over if you toss seeds...
this was taken at Elizabeth Morton Bird Sanctuary.... I wasn't able to hold my camera with one hand with gloves on, plus it was freezing out...
Woke up to this in my back yard. The tides have risen, consistently, since the big storm, Sandy. I believe the fragile underground has been undermined and sunk from all the flooding. This will be the new norm with every storm from here on in is my speculation.
If this keeps up, we will have to take a boat to get to the boat!
I think someone needs to be a role model these days since it's sure as hell not going to be politicians.
What better way to teach real values to your kids than getting them to respect nature.

the small birds will land on your hand if you offer seed... but we arrived too late in the day and there weren't many little birds around... I had about 5 land on me, but it was so cold, I couldn't hold my camera with one hand with gloves on.... so I didn't get any shots...
Next time we're arriving first thing in the morning... on a little warmer day!!

thinking it needed work, now it needs a lot more work.
The cemetery belongs to the Old Whaler's
Presbyterian Church built in 1844.

Spotted this serene scene while driving through my hometown. I knew I had to park and take a photo right then and there or it would be forever lost...the light, the leaves the stillness.

These 2 boats, docked in downtown Sag Harbor, belong to none other than, Billy Joel. One is named for his daughter, Alexa. This weekend, our village is bustling with activity: the farmer's market, craft fair and tons of tourists. And of course, several ducklings and a partridge...no, that's a swan.
The village library, opened 1910, is being enlarged.
As a child I liked that one of the library's rooms had
Victorian stereoscopes on a table for anyone to use.
