a very tall African stork with a height of 145 to 150 cm (4 ft 9 in to 4 ft 11 in) with a spectacular bill that makes it easy to recognize.
It lives solitary or in pairs in wetlands or near freshwater swamps or dams, sometimes even in the midst of dry country.

Fungi of beechwood: The White Saddle (Helvella crispa). These interesting fungi have a saddle-shaped elastic cap without gills and with a fluted stem. “Helvella” stands for “aromatic”, but apparently this species doesn’t have a strong smell; whereas “crispa” stands for “curled” or “wrinkled” in Latin - which is spot on I’d say. Another name that sticks to this group of fungi is Elfin Saddles, I guess they just the right size for elves to sit on a fine autumnal day.😀 Lansdown, Bath, BANES, England, U.K.
"Saddle Up. . .There's work to do"; seems to be this cowboys expression. He looked me right in the eye with that weather worn face and I knew he'd been out working the range. Part of my western cowboy series of images. Taken at Eaves Movie Ranch in Santa Fe, New Mexico. (Edited with Lightroom and Topaz)
Saddle Spurs old saddle with lots of wear and tear and a set of show spurs shot this in North Carolina.
Join us on our Saddle Mountain camping trip! Saddle Mountain is about an hour west of Phoenix. We chose a Bureau of Land Management road on west side of the mountain where you're allowed to camp anywhere (a.k.a. dispersed camping, thedyrt.com/magazine/lifestyle/what-is-dispersed-camping/). These are the first pics jumping out of the car, before we set up the camp.
When I think of storks I think of the ones that are depicted delivering babies..this guy is not your typical baby deliverer😀
Thank you very much for viewing my photo ! I truly appreciate any faves and comments ! 😊
Saddle-billed Stork - Victoria Nile River, Murchison Falls National Park, Paraa, Uganda

Morning river cruise on the Victoria Nile from Paraa to the Delta. Private small boat trip provided by Wild Frontiers Uganda Safaris.
On this trip to Uganda we used Ngoni Safaris Uganda. They provided excellent service. I highly recommend them.

This is an image of Saddle Falls, off one of the side canyons taken during my raft trip of the Colorado through Marble and Grand Canyon.
Tony and I wandered up Saddle Tor this morning, quite late by our standards but it was only a recce really. Anyway, the views and the play of light and shade as the clouds passed overhead were too much to resist, so we didn't!

It took me forever to find the name of this little mountain out in the Malheur NWR area, which surprised me because it's a prominent feature in the area.
Now that I know, the 12-year-old in me cannot stop laughing.
This is a much lesser known viewpoint at the majestic Julie Pfieffer Burns State Park. Saddle Rock juts out into the Pacific Ocean just a little bit bast the more well known McWay Falls. McWay Falls typically grabs more of the attention here, but I could not resist this viewpoint as the setting sun cast a nice warm glow onto the rugged coastline. Places like this leave me speechless and in awe as I ponder how much more beautiful heaven will be! It is not even comprehendible to our finite minds to understand the level of creativity and beauty that God has instilled into His creation. I easily could have stayed here much longer, but unfortunately some good things have to end.

After days of changeable, and windy weather Tuesday morning, started still, cool and clear! No Clouds in the Wanganui/Manawatu is not a good start for photography! still and cool, perhaps there could be Fog in the Tararua! I drove toward Saddle road at Ashhurst I spotted a whisp of cloud coming through the gorge! It was on! This Image is just before the sun rose fully! My Video premieres Friday Night I will post another image with a link to the Video before then
Saddle Rocks at Cullercoats Bay as the sunrise sky briefly illuminated with some lovely warm pastel colours.
Elfin Saddle (Helvella lacunosa) is an Ascomycota, a type of fungus that shoots its spores rather than dropping them from gills or pores.
Asci, the spore-bearing cells, are typically 340μm long x 16μm diameter. Each ascus contains eight spores. Spores are ellipsoidal, 15-19 x 10-13μm.
A fascinating, odd-looking fungus, but it is easily missed.
