It's a crazy and scary feeling when you don't know what's next and how it will go on. Is everything going to be okay, or can it get worse? For the moment i have lost confidence in the world ... in justice and in our legal system. How fast it can go downhill without a sledge or snowboard.

Slightly less well known than its lookalikes (House Finch and Purple Finch), the Cassin’s Finch is the characteristic rosy-tinged finch of the mountains of western North America.

The Cassin’s Finch was first collected on an 1850s expedition to the southwestern mountains by the Pacific Railroad Survey. The eminent ornithologist John Cassin, who created illustrations for the survey, called the pink-tinged finch the “greatest bird in the lot.” Cassin asked his friend and colleague Spencer Baird to name the new species after him.

Photographed at my home, Yakima County, Washington. This bird, the first Steller's Jay I have ever seen in my yard has been showing up almost every day for about a month even though the Scrub-Jays have tried their best to chase it out of their territory. IMG_9594

Detail of Sony Center's roof, electrified for Sliders Sunday.

Sony Center, a 132,500 m² building complex at Potsdamer Platz (located across the Berliner Philharmonie), consists of several buildings of which the main complex was designed by Chicago-based architect Helmut Jahn. It was opened in 2000.

Sony Center's impressive 3,500 m² roof spans the entire patio, the so-called Forum. The spectacular roof construction consists of safety glass and translucent fabric panels which are attached by tie rods to a steel ring that rests on the surrounding buildings. The roof's shape represents Japan's Mount Fuji. In Japanese mythology, the Kami – holy powers or spirits that are worshipped in Shinto religion – live in the mountains. Since Berlin lies in a mostly flat region and has no real mountains to speak of, the roof's design was supposed to ensure the Kami's protection for Sony's European headquarters (today, Sony's German branch is located at Sony Center) by building them an artificial mountain to live in.

Happy Sliders Sunday, Everyone!

Camper's and day visitors enjoy a relaxing day at Alberta's Upper Kananaskis Lake. Soon they will be snowshoeing and cross-country skiing here.

This portion of Alberta, south of Banff, is called Kananaskis Country. The spine of the continent's Rocky Mountains runs between Banff's world-renown peaks to Glacier National Park's many iconic peaks. Same mountains, similar grandeur.

It's a protected ecosystem so generally will see lots of wildlife as well.

Also known as Hollywood North, as many movies are made here.

Wasn't too well-known but is now, requiring a $90 annual pass or $15 day pass to enter K Country. Well worth it for nature lovers.

Goodbye summer, welcome to my favorite time of year: Autumn.

"What's This"

I decided to use a bit of humor today, I don't know if it is acceptable?

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️❤️❤️

It´s only light. It´s only an optic defect. It´s only life.

Here are my best whises for you Fllickr friends. As much as you are able to count bubbles flares in this shot.

Wish you get the balance between the reasonable prudence and the insane panic and fear that politics and his media gives us.

It´s only an advice. It´s only a thought...

Happy new year to all

What do I do when I'm waiting for the Warrriorrrrrssss to come on? This! I was sitting outside enjoying the day and saw a Bewick's Wren land on the cherry blossoms! He was there for maybe a few seconds, called out and the flew away.

Go Warriors!

Lieutenant's island in Wellfleet, Cape Cod is one of the most beautiful, serene and remote areas that I know of. A fantastic place for a walk!

One time I came here recently, I couldn't make it over to the island! It turns out that the whole area around the small bridge leading to the island was totally under water! It happens often, apparently, simply due to the tide. This time around, no problem. But I was a little concerned about the tide :))

More than 100 years ago, on an unpleasant January Night in 1914, the S/S (Steamship) Lina ran aground at the croatian Island Cres. It was a navigational Error. Today, the amazingly well preserved shipwreck rests in 25 to 52m of depth and is one of the most photographed objects under the surface of the Kvarner Bay.

A little snow and frost to go with these lovely farm out buildings. I named it the S&W farm because the graffiti on the tree on left. Figured they fell in love and own the place.

Although recently removed from the endangered species list this species depends on people to manage its required breeding habitat of certain aged Jack Pine forests. Cowbird trapping was also part of the management and that was stopped a few seasons ago. Part of the rational for that was the Cowbird population had plummeted in that area and apparently it was thought that was not due to trapping alone but due to a change in the surrounding habitat making it less hospitable to Cowbirds. This season I ran in to a few local birders in other Michigan locations (we've yet to run into another photographer or birder in the Kirtland or other breeding ground areas we go with the exception of the Smithsonian individuals below) who independently made the comment that they were seeing a sharp increase in the Cowbird population this year including one person who lived adjacent to Kirtland habitat.

This year we again ran into a Smithsonian team doing nest monitoring for Cowbird parasitism. As nests were just beginning to be built they didn't have a read yet on this season's parasitism. When WarblerWhisperer goes into this habitat we don't go into the Jack Pine forest but we work around the road. We don't go looking for nests. Time will tell whether Cowbird trapping will need to be resumed.

Swinhoe's Pheasant, Taiwan

Anna’s Hummingbirds are mostly green and gray, without any rufous or orange marks on the body. The male's head and throat are covered in iridescent reddish-pink feathers that can look dull brown or gray without direct sunlight.

Anna’s Hummingbirds are a blur of motion as they hover before flowers looking for nectar and insects. Listen for the male's scratchy metallic song and look for him perched above head level in trees and shrubs.

Anna’s Hummingbirds are common in yards, parks, residential streets, eucalyptus groves, riverside woods, savannahs, and coastal scrub. They readily come to hummingbird feeders and flowering plants, including cultivated species in gardens.
