This shot of the Lamborghini was taken at Malory Park for a comp I won with Digital SLR Magazine (along with 3 others). We were given some tips from top car photograph Mark Fagelson, 2 Elinchrom Ranger RXs an assistant and told you have 45 mins to shoot the car. 45 mins may seem a long time to take a shot of a really fast car but when you have only ever used a speedlight and had to borrow the pros 5d because Mr Canon forgot to put a PC connection on my 400d for the wireless trigger and remember to frame the shot without the normal clutter you find at a motor racing circuit…..

So in true strobist style : 2 Elinchrom Ranger RXs at 45 degrees to the car for that even lighting on the car, expose for the background ( one of strobist best ever tips), test shot, move the Elinchrom Ranger RXs back a foot, test shot, underexpose some more, final shot, lightroom levels /crop and present to the client ……45 min to shoot a Lamborghini simple

BU51 RXS is a Volvo B7TL with Alexander ALX400 H47/27F body, it was new to West Midlands in February 2002. To the left is the shopping parade at Shirley complete with Covid-19 signs and, to prevent the spread of the virus, the loading bays are coned off...

The old Volvo is looking very dated well it is in its 18th year, but it is still rather more stylish than the ugly white blob in the parking bay.

A reliable no frills motorcycle that had a long production run and was/is common in developing countries.

This one had 20,000 miles on the clock in 2011 and has been on SORN since.

I was very kindly offered a drive in this when I took my older RX into Lexus Ipswich at the weekend for new discs and pads. It's the brand new 5th generation version, what did I think of it?.....

I reckon it costs around £73,000 for this particular model. As to be hoped for that money it was super-refined, unless accelerating very hard then it was fully electric and apparently the battery holds enough charge for 40 miles. After that it runs as a 'normal' hybrid, which I'm used to with my RX.

The engine in this one is a departure from previous RXs, most of which had a V6, being a 2-5-litre 4-cyl unit. It still gave plenty of power, with the motor assisting as need be.

Ride was smoother than mine, more like the LS400. Handling good too.

Stying at the front end is a bit challenging, probably better in dark colours like this very nice deep blue.

Interior was very plush and comfortable, although there were one or two strange omissions/downgrades from my 3rd generation model. The technology wasn't too overwhelming.

Allowing for the value of mine as a trade-in, and opting for a 'lower-spec' model on more sensible 19" wheels (but still very well-equipped), I'd need to find around £53,000 to own one. Oddly enough that won't be happening, but a used example will be something to consider in a few years (or perhaps a late 4th generation RX as values of those soften due to becoming an older model).
