Providence, Rhode Island

I knew I wouldn't be able to get out at lunch thanks to a lengthy meeting at IBM today, so I stopped at India Point Park on my way into work. I was hoping there would be some bikers or runners out and about, but I was the only one there. I had to settle for this shot of the old rusted tug at the far end of the point. It's been a while since I used my long lenses, so for this photo I used my 200mm with the 2x Teleconverter. Thank God for Image Stabilization so I was able to hand-hold the camera for this photo.

Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, boost black, and protect highlights. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.

I love the mixture of old paint and rust. These machines provided me with some great photos.

Love the fact that steel is so strong, but leave it unpainted & is gets destroyed just by sitting around.

Part of a windmill sculpture at Carhenge. I like the labrynth-like coil in the middle.

Jess, Noah and I took a road trip to Carhenge, near Alliance, Nebraska to see the replica of Stonehenge made of cars -- these are a few pics of what we found there! 7-9-11

Spruce needle rust on Sitka spruce needles. Infection was also heavy the previous year (2018), evidenced by the absence of one-year-old needles. USDA Forest Service photo by Robin Mulvey.

Found in a back alley off commercial drive.

on an old forgotten piece of machinery, Newnes, NSW, Australia

This thing was quite heavy and was falling apart quickly. It's days as a solid object are almost over. Not really sure as to what it was. It had a handle and a lid. Possibly came kind of cannister container.

Picture is less 'noisy' in the larger sizes...

Impression made by an old cast iron fire hood. After making the image in rust i soaked it in tea. I forgot about it for some hours so it turned out a lot darker than intended, but I am pleased with the effect.

Rusty fence parts

Shot through the bars of the steel fence round the Railtrack yard on Lower Clarence Road. This is my second go at them and I still can't get them right. Someone else go and do it before the crates are removed and put me out of my misery. (This means you Leo)
