Flybe has now ceased trading and all flights from and to the UK operated by Flybe have been cancelled and will not be rescheduled.
28th January 2023
FlyBe had 7 active aircraft in its fleet operating to destinations in the UK, Geneva, and Amsterdam.
Another sad day in the airline industry, regional airline FlyBe.
The never ending sad news of another airline going bust.
Much described as "going quietly ", Jota Aviation of Biggin Hill, London, England ceased business over the Easter 2022 bank holiday weekend.
Best known for their fleet of BAe 146/ Avro's in both the charter & cargo market, with customers such as BA Cityflyer & Cityjet, problems were signalled in 2021 with Brexit/ EU regulations & the Covid pandemic wiping out charter flights.
BAe146-200 (registration G-SMLA) seen above at Dublin in October 2015, was retired in November 2021.
At the close of business, Jota had 4 x BAe 146's in both passenger & freight configuration along with 1 x RJ85 in passenger layout.
Goodbye Jota & the last commercial operator of the Avro RJ/ BAe 146 in Europe.
Gibraltar, Verenigd Koninkrijk
Walking on a runway, you don't get that chance every day. However, Gibraltar's busiest main road crosses the runway and that is a unique sight. If you want to see this for yourself you have to hurry, because a tunnel is under construction.
Gibraltar, United Kingdom
Snowies know how to work it on the cat walk.

The marshall at Dublin Airport, with a nice selection of airplane parking markings, old & new, gone are the 747 & A340, now replaced by the A350 & B787 widebodies.

This was the grand finale of the event; the runway walk with the models wearing their designer outfits. I was assigned a shooting station that was definitely challenging. The models were supposed to walk straight down the runway, stop at a fixed point, and do a sharp 90 degree turn to the left and I was to photograph them with the golf course in the background. The organizer assured me that the lighting would be good. It all sounded good and pretty much none of it happened.
Once the show started an unauthorized photographer set up near where the models were supposed to stop and turn - many of the models thought they were to stop for him; once they shot with him they ran into the doorway. Grrr. Since this was a country club some members were cutting in between the models, some of the models didn't stop at all, and the lighting was gawd awful - it was both bright and hazy from wild fire smoke. The runway walk was definitely not my favorite part of the weekend but I'm still glad I had a chance to shoot with these lovely models.
