Snow in Hunt Valley, Maryland along Western Run. Was able to get out for a few minutes into the snow and snap some captures. Nice to be able to do after working in the office while the snow fell across Baltimore today.
With their final consist build, the A&O departs south through Berkley Run Junction. Here, the CSX Mountain Subdivision ends and the train will continue its journey over the Cowen Subdivision, a CSX line on long-term lease to the A&O.
Technically, I guess they're hatched to run. Regardless, the greater roadrunner is aptly named. They can run at quite a pace. We've seen them in the deep desert or suburban parks like this one. Their tails and crest seem to be quite dynamic - always raising and lowering. Cool birds.

These two cows were standing in this small pond filled with duck weed. As soon as they saw me with my camera they ran away, like their lives depended on it! Up and over the hill and out of sight!

Morning sunlight tries to penetrate the cloud deck here north of Baltimore.
My human footsteps were the fist down here since the snow fell last weekend. But lots of other creatures have come down along the riverbank.
This is a Pied-billed Grebe, common in my area. They are usually found solo or in pairs and "fly" underwater catching small fish. Once in a while they take to the air. Their feet look lobed but actually it's the shape of their toes. The legs are in the back of their body which aids in their swimming and is probably the reason why I've never seen them on land. When they want to make time, they will take to the air but more often they'll run on the surface like this guy. (Podilymbus Podiceps)
Run away, run away and save something in you / and don't let them do it / don't become a man to burn / The air, the air you breathed a short time ago / still has its scent / of real things, of pure things, of freedom.

My favourite time of the year for jogging and walking along the river Aare, when the path leads you through an enchanted fairytale forest. 🍁🍂🍄
"It's time to run, they'll string me up for all that I've done
I'm going soon, gonna leave tonight, by the light of the moon
I did it all for you, well I hope you know the lengths I've gone to
What's a man to say? They'll be looking for me, should be on my way"

Happy Monochrome Monday, everyone!
When two faithful eyes close forever,
and you have to go home without him.
with a halter in your hand, and your heart full of pain.
then you try to convince yourself i was not allowed to be selfish you were old and i had to let you go run free i will never forget you in my heart forever🐴❤️
You need to get up to speed when you are on the run for a successful take off.Quick on your webbed feet to push as your wings give lift then viola you are in-flight.
Pushing on that trigger is like pulling magic into my very soul...Darrell.
