This green heron ruffled its feathers then settled back into position. Sometimes, things just need to be reset!

ruffled grouse can typically be approached relatively closely while in the wild....this image was taken within ten yards with snowy background although I will admit their camouflage is amazing....

This Short-eared Owl was perched on a distant post this morning with it's feathers all ruffled.

For macro mondays 'layer'

 

Thank goodness for macro mondays - I've been meaning to photograph these lovely carnations for a couple of weeks. They seem to have lasted forever!

One of the beautiful flowers of the variety of tulips.🌷 This bud was still closed but it's still beautiful. Waiting for Spring again in few months!

This scrub jay is another capture from the cold day where the birds would just let me approach and stay where they were. It was windy and cold, which helped them make the decision to wait me out!
