#Macro #MacroMondays #Puzzle

Rubik's Cube is a 3-D combination puzzle invented in 1974[1][2] by Hungarian sculptor and professor of architecture Ernő Rubik. Originally called the Magic Cube,[3] the puzzle was licensed by Rubik to be sold by Ideal Toy Corp. in 1980[4] via businessman Tibor Laczi and Seven Towns founder Tom Kremer,[5] and won the German Game of the Year special award for Best Puzzle that year. As of January 2009, 350 million cubes had been sold worldwide[6][7] making it the world's top-selling puzzle game.[8][9] It is widely considered to be the world's best-selling toy.[10]

"The Rubik's Cube"
Consists of an unknown metal with crystalline inclusions. What is striking is that it is not magnetic, which distinguishes it from many other metallic objects. With color accents, it serves as a fascinating photo object and creates impressive visual effects.
Macro Mondays 'green and yellow squares' theme.
I discovered this week that I have very little green or yellow in the house. One of my Rubik's cubes came to my rescue.
The image measures 2.25" in width

I have never used this for anything but photographing. I'd never get it back to it's original colours if I tried to use it!
Quote by Erno Rubik
We had this Professor Cube (5x5) since last year but we haven't really solved it yet haha. It's just crazy even just to look at it. Though if you know how to solve the Rubik's Cube (3x3), it's easier..but but..
I learned how to solve the Rubik's Cube way back in High School when it became a fad. LOL. I was teaching my youngest brother last night how to solve it that I got confused with the 5x5 and made wrong turns and had to start over again.
It's fun and crazy, as Rubik said, it's like an imitation of life. :)
taken for Macro Mondays' theme for 9 May 2016 - "When I was a Child..."
When I was a child, I loved playing with Rubik's cube and indeed spent huge amount of my childhood time to solve it...
Never did like those cubes.
A macro view of a disassembled Rubik's-style cube. Each square measures one centimeter.
Strobist/technical info:
The scene is a 7-image focus stack composite. It was illuminated by two Nikon SB900 speedlights placed at 9- and 3-o'clock, one-foot above and three-feet away from the cube. They were fired in Manual mode @ ½ - power (9-o'clock) and ¼ - power (3-o'clock) through Neewer 24" x 24" soft boxes.
The speedlights were triggered by three PocketWizard Plus X flash triggers.
