We had the misfortune to be caught in heavy congestion caused by a serious road traffic collision (RTC), full details of which have not yet been released. The M4 was closed between Junction 24 (Malpas) and J26 (The Coldra); we were stuck on the slip road just past the Brynglas Tunnels.

The van and trailer were carrying screens. A little after it had negotiated the traffic, the eastbound carriageway was opened. As we passed the RTC site, the screens had been deployed to conceal the scene from “rubberneckers”.
