gegetti: #talking_statues This is "Monumento Soria" by Ettore Nenci (1929), in Venice San Michele graveyard, an incredible "isle of the dead" surrounded by water. It was commissioned by the husband of Anna Maria Soria, who died giving birth to her son.

I like to wander around graveyards, it's very calming and peaceful, I often wonder who these people were, what they did and what their lives were like, this lady died in 1886 aged 66 and was a vicars wife #graveyards #blackandwhite #monochrome #cross #cemetery #burial #headstones #graves #inscription
