Club house of Shooters Hill Golf Club. 2½-storey Victorian detached house with gables and

tiled roof, stuccoed rendering, dated 1874. Designed by Edward dru Drurey - a local architect

who also built the Church Hall in St. Johns Park. This building is unique in that, 'it is probably

As not everyone can stroll along the riverside, Google Street View gives a taster.

Unlike me, I was running a bit late but at least caught the last few minutes of the display. My original plan was to head to the other side of the river to get a nice view with the Old Royal Naval College in the background.

The plan is to demolish this handsome pub and replace it with flats, of course people will lose their livelihoods from the loss of this business. Not to mention the loss of amenity. Within the borough of Greenwich there are literally hundreds and hundreds of acres of empty brownfield land ready to be developed. Yet it seems every characterfull building is being put in the sights of a bulldozer to be replaced by more clone-flats. This building is part of the area's history and an architectural reminder of our past - the building is solid, sound and in good repair. If you would like to consider objecting to the planning application the plans can be perused online and an objection made in just a few minutes at publicaccess.royalgreenwich.gov.uk:81/online-applications...
