A damselfly resting on a portion of the Chinese Jade Bridal Carriage on display in the Garden of Friendship in Sydney's Darling Harbour.
The oriental-style garden was donated by the Chinese citizens of Australia in 1988 as a gift for Australia's Bicentennial. It celebrates the link between the city and Guangzhou, its Chinese sister city. Carved from 300 tons of raw jade, the two tonne carriage was originally displayed in the Queen Victoria Building. Dust seems to be a problem in its current location.

Store and dress shop owners in your hometown would attend shows like this one, look at the items available and make orders to sell them in your hometown store.
Both the rise of the big box store and the fall of American textile manufacturing killed this system of salesmanship. As well as better nationwide communication, nationwide advertising, and more national brands instead of smaller, local brands.

A damselfly takes a liking to a section of an ornate jade carriage in the Chinese Garden Of Friendship in Sydney.Three hundred tonnes of jade were transformed into the two tonne carriage.It was a gift to the gardens from the owners of Sydney's Queen Victoria Building.
