It had been raining for ages, so I finally decided to make a little origami boat and photograph it outside in a puddle. But I'm not very good at instructions. After 1/2 hour of folding and unfolding, I ended up with a couple of things that were not boats. My husband, hearing my sighs, said "I'll do it!" How many husbands would help make paper boats? :) Well, after another half an hour, there were eight sad folded papers lying on the desk, none of them boats. And, this was all using online tutorials. Finally, he picked one up, with an "aha" moment and folded it backwards, and voila, suddenly, it was the closest we came to a boat yet. So he quickly picked up the rest, gave them the same final fold, and then I had a fleet. This one was my attempt, and I know it's not how they're supposed to look, but it did float:)

No matter where I go or how far I roam, music always takes me home!

I already can play some key and percussion instruments but now I'm going to start to play the violin! A new purpose for 2018!

Many thanks to all who takes the time to view, comment and fave my pictures!

American White Pelican, Fox River at De Pere, Wisconsin USA

An image from April of this year when the Pelicans were on the river in big numbers. This day was my first venture of the year on the river with the floating blind. I rowed about 1/2 mi upriver in my aluminum row boat with the floating blind stowed in the back. Anchored the boat in the shallows about 500 yds away from a large group of pelicans. Offloaded the blind and slowly moved along the bank. An outcrop of cover allowed me to get pretty close. Battled a bit of wind late in the excursion. A memorable outing, though - well worth the considerable effort.

The "horn" on the upper bill is present in both males and females during the mating season. This is the only one of the eight species of pelican to have a bill "horn". The horn is shed after the birds have mated and laid their eggs

neither inside nor outside; the image nor the place are not the reality.

The thing that is aware of the image, that is the one sole reality.

Members of the South Woodham Ferrers Yacht Club rowing section returning to base after a row along the River Crouch!

The SWFYC rowing section has two large 27 foot long Spirit class rowing gigs. Their first gig was named Spirit of Endeavour by Kath Peyton MBE in the summer of 2014. Following a successful bid for Sport England Lottery grant they were able to buy another gig named Spirit of Adventure, and the Mayor of Chelmsford was welcomed on Saturday 10 January 2015 to perform the traditional naming ceremony.

Have a peaceful and relaxing Sunday~

Canoe paddlers sing; "row, row, row your boat, gently down the stream, merrily merrily merrily merrily"... at sunset in the Florida Everglades

A lovely young couple...I was waiting for the sun to get lower on the horizon at sunset and they came out of no-where down this canoe trail, right into the strong sun-stream. It formed this intense silhouette. Was hoping to get some backlight through her pretty blonde hair but that didn't happen...and I was hoping he'd show me that paddle in the air but they were gliding in, probably after rowing for quite a few hours. It was fun. Thanks for looking.

On a bicycle trip in the Mosel valley

I look to the sea.

Reflections in the waves spark my memories.

Some happy. Some sad.

I think of childhood friends

and the dreams we had.

We lived happily forever.

So the story goes. But somehow we missed out

On the pot of gold.

But we'll try, best that we can, to carry on.

"I am really glad we are watching this during the day because this is frightening."

"I know. I wonder how it will end."

Went on a day trip to the Ouzoud Waterfalls, in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco, what a location! There are a few boats that take tourist right up to the waterfall! It was really hot this day but so cool and refreshing next to the falls!

It was a long trip, around 3 hours from Marrakech (with a short loo break) but well worth it!

There are a couple of restaurants there and you can have lunch while watching the waterfall, truly amazing.

There are also Macaque monkeys in the valley and they are so used to people that they will climb on your shoulder and eat out of your hand!

Here are some videos I took at the waterfall :)

Excerpt from Wikipedia:

Ouzoud Waterfalls (Amazigh: Imuzzar n wuẓuḍ, French: Cascades d'Ouzoud) (110 m high) are located near the Moyen Atlas village of Tanaghmeilt, in the province of Azilal, 150 km northeast of Marrakech, in Morocco.

Ouzoud means "the act of grinding grain" in Berber. This seems to be confirmed by the frequent mills in the region.[1]

The bottom of the falls is accessible through a shaded path of olive trees. At the summit of the falls, there are a dozen old small mills that are still in use. One can also follow a narrow and difficult track leading to the road of Beni Mellal. While descending the gorges from the "wadi el-Abid" in a canyon sometimes one does not distinguish the bottom which is nearly 600 metres down.

It is the most visited site of the region. In the vicinity, green valleys, mills, orchards and a superb circuit of the gorges of the El Abid River (in Arabic, "Slaves' River" ) are found. Many local and national associations lead projects to protect and preserve the site.

On an excursion to Petra we had to cross over to Jordan from Taba via a seacat.

You can see Jordan from Taba so the journey only takes around 45 mins.

Whilst on the crossing I went out to the front of the seacat with my wideangle and took this frame fiiling shot of the bow.

The seacat was going quite fast and rocking quite a bit so had to be careful.

I didnt get down low enough on the shot so some land was showing on the right and the sea on the left so tried my best to clone those out for total symmetry.
