A little bit of cuteness for Smiles.

Harpo is now 15 months, lean, weighs 25 kg and shows no sign of settling down. He is sitting on his training platform so I was able to have him still for a few photos.

During grooming last week, he tried to lick the groomers hand and cut his tongue. It took over two hours to stop the bleeding even though you couldn't see a cut so I picked him half groomed! This is his finished groom with "bracelets" which I think are very elegant but not everyone in the family agrees ;-)

Then last night, while walking him, a 65 kg Rottweiler was off lead and came running at Harpo. Harpo manged to slip his collar. It was terrifying but the Rottweiler was such a gentleman. Harpo's recall is crap so he wouldn't come back, just ran at high speed in circles around us and this beautiful beast of a dog. On a good note, Harpo could just about outrun any other dog, and I reckon he would give a greyhound a run for its money.

Fortunately the owner of the Rotty was lovely and sat down on the park bench with his dog who was under much better control than ours. We sat down too and were able to make a grab for Harpo. A frightening lesson there. His collar has now been tightened!

Sonny and Chewy had a great day playing in the sun, splashing in the Bow, rolling in the sand, chasing balls and sticks and eating watermelon. They were good and tired by the end of the night.

We haven't had much time for flickring lately, trying to catch up with comments when I can. Lots going on right now and over the next two months - getting married in September!!!. Busy, busy busy!!!!

I wish I got a better shot of this building! It was so cool. It was mostly abandoned (partially an auto parts store), and smelled strongly of sweet rotty abandonment.. with pigeons flying in and out. A cool wind was blowing out of the cracks in the windows. It's a very sad and lonely building. Somebody come give it some love! The building in the background is totally unrelated.

EDIT: March 2011: This building is gone from this world.

View of a “fast food” type of restaurant in Islamabad. The guy is baking rotties - thin, round and crispy loafs that are extremely tasty and are served with sheep or goat meat kebab, mixed salad (tomato, cucumbers and onion) and some sweet beverage (e.g. Coca Cola) or just plain water in jars on the table. The normal restaurants in fact are also “fast food”, because there is no beer or wine. Therefore the dining is done fast and without much talking. Same is also for the wedding parties. They are also quick. You eat and quit. In general, the food is very tasty and also very hot...
