Wish I could some more of this action at RIAT this year, but that’s not the case unfortunately

From our campsite in Zion National Park, this was a 20-minute exposure capturing the stars over the canyon walls. As the Earth rotates, the stars move in a circular motion across the night sky.

Rotating out from Glasgow Prestwick airport is this Cargolux freighter airliner. Cargolux is a Luxembourgish cargo airline with its headquarters and hub at Luxembourg Airport. With a global network, it is one of the largest scheduled all-cargo airlines in Europe. Charter flights and third party maintenance are also operated. The 747-8 which is one of the aircraft operated by Cargolux is the third generation of the 747, with a lengthened fuselage, redesigned wings, new engines, and improved efficiency. The 747-8 is the largest 747 version, the largest commercial aircraft built in the United States, and the longest passenger aircraft in the world.

Tim Gamble found this new spot on the Snake Pass in Derbyshire and it would have been rude not to try a little camera rotation. Shot in one photographic exposure as per usual.

Macro Mondays and the theme of "Squared Circle".

I had a few thoughts for this weeks theme and a couple of those I thought could be popular and crop up a few times.

So after a little more thought I came up with the idea of using a CD clipped into the Tray on my laptop. This could be rotated during the exposure to show movement.

With the CD rotating during the whole exposure everything is blurred which is quite nice but during some exposures the CD came to a stop giving a double exposure effect as detail recorded.

This gave me the idea of using an exposure where the whole subject had blur and blending it with one where the CD was totally stationary. This allowed more control over the look of the subject.

The CD came from "Practical Photography" magazine.

"De Berk" is a flour mill in Barger-Compascuum in Drenthe. The mill comes from the German Drantum (Kreis Cloppenburg) and was purchased in the eighties by miller Hendrik Bökkers from Olst, who wanted to build it in the east of the country to replace another mill. This plan did not go ahead and the mill was eventually sold on to Stichting Veenpark 't Aole Compas, which placed it in the Veenpark as a rotating mill. De Berk was restored in 2006, but since 2009 the mill has not been able to turn due to the poor condition of the tail work. The mill is a municipal monument. (source: wikipedia)

I took a lot of photos of the Blue Angels last week. This is probably my most favorite.

Had a little trip down to Canary Wharf's Winter Lights Festival with a camera rotation tool. This was very bright but stopping down the lens and being a bit quick with the lens cap seemed to work. Shot in one photographic exposure as usual.

Its fun this time of year, I can nip out and grab a couple of pictures and be home in time for dinner! this is a simple rotation taken in one exposure of the Local dual carriageway to me.

An unexpected walkabout around Gateshead waterfront and Neil Rushby walked in to the Sage fully expecting to get thrown out by security but amazingly we were allowed in late at night to take photographs. The interior is lit up like a Christmas tree and it would've been rude not to do a camera rotation shot... Shot in one single photographic exposure

A little experimental upload to Flickr, imported the original RAW file to Lightroom for iPad Pro and warmed up the white balance a little. I want to see what the quality was like to remove my desktop PC from the process altogether...

Rotating out from London's Heathrow Airport from the 27 Left end is this American Airlines Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner passenger Airliner and is heading to Phoenix, Arizona in the USA.

So the weekend just gone I caught up with Martin Turner and Ed Bentley who were spending the weekend doing some photography in London; the weather wasn’t supposed to be up to much so we had a mix of indoor and out locations planned, all of which were mighty fine and new to all of us!!

This taken at the first point of call, and it is a mighty fine ceiling, getting the correct exposure was proving to be difficult so I had to try and get a balance between not over exposing the skylight while keeping the shadows in check.

No excuses for my absence (well I have) but I am rubbish at keeping up to date with things, I hope that you’re all having a good week, half way there already… yay :-)

***I've just started a Facebook page it would be great if some of you came to visit and maybe even "Like" it :-)***
