From our campsite in Zion National Park, this was a 20-minute exposure capturing the stars over the canyon walls. As the Earth rotates, the stars move in a circular motion across the night sky.

"All 335 living species of hummingbirds are found exclusively in the Americas. These birds astounded and fascinated the adventurous European naturalists who first encountered them zipping about in the tropics. Ever since, the logical assumption has been that this family of tiny, hovering birds originally evolved in the New World. It therefore came as a great surprise when in 2003 a fossil-bird expert named Gerald Mayr recognized that several 30-million-year-old remains from a site in southern Germany were actually fossil hummingbirds. Mayr carefully described those hummingbird fossils, clearly documenting that hummingbirds occurred in the Old World during the early part of their evolutionary history.
Mayr’s specimens were clearly hummingbirds—features of their bone structure showed that they could rotate their wings to hover, and their elongated bills even suggested that they fed on flowers. However, these first-known European hummingbirds differed from all present-day hummingbirds in various details of their anatomy, suggesting that they were an early precursor on the hummingbird evolutionary tree.
A spectacular new hummingbird specimen from the same early period was recently unearthed in southern France and described by a team of paleontologists. The skeleton of the new hummingbird fossil is nearly complete, and the rock matrix around the bones even reveals the outline of the bird’s feathers, making it easily possible to discern the shapes of this ancient hummingbird’s wings and tail.

This ring-necked parakeet couple intertwined their way around the bird feeder with unusual harmony and mutual co-operation. Speeded up, I think they might have looked a bit like a helicopter.

Au départ de Stechelberg (867 m. d'altitude, à 75km de Berne et 18km d'Interlaken), il faut s'armer de patience et d'un certain courage pour gravir ce sommet à bord du téléphérique… le plus raide du monde. Même si l'ascension ne dure que 30 minutes, le visiteur retient son souffle. Le long d'une paroi quasi verticale transpercée de puissantes cascades, les petites cabines suspendues à leur fil grimpent jusqu'au sommet de la montagne, le Schilthorn à 2970 mètres d'altitude. Pour y parvenir, elles franchissent, en quatre étapes - Stechelberg, Gimmelwald, Mürren et Birg - une dénivellation totale de 2103 mètres en parcourant quelque 7000 mètres de câbles.
Au cœur des neiges éternelles, le panorama sur le massif de la Jungfrau est forcément époustouflant, tout comme le fossé de Lauterbrunnen, à nos pieds.
Là-haut, le restaurant panoramique Piz Gloria tourne sur lui-même grâce à l'énergie solaire, effectuant une rotation de 360° toutes les 55 minutes. En 1969, c'était le premier restaurant tournant du monde !
Avant même d'être ouvert au public et quelques mois seulement après sa construction, ce bâtiment futuriste en aluminium accueillit les équipes de tournage de James Bond "Au service secret de sa Majesté" ("On her Majesty's Secret Service"), qui simulèrent de légendaires parties de chassé-croisé dans les montagnes alentours durant l'hiver 1968-1969. Les séquences concernées sont projetées sur place, dans une petite salle de cinéma prévue à cet effet. Depuis l'été 2005, les amoureux peuvent sceller leur vie au sommet de la montagne.

Yankee Tango lifts off runway 24R at Palma De Mallorca, the only 747 presence at the airport these days.
It's the start of the Easter holidays 2022, after two years of pent up "stay at home" recommendations, the heave is on, especially in Germany to getback to the beach & sun.
Lufthansa operated two "heavies " from Munich & Frankfurt, usually seen on long haul services to Palma de Mallorca to cater for the extra demand, much like the did in 2021.
The Boeing 747 flight from Frankfurt :

The Falkirk Wheel
The Falkirk Wheel is a rotating boat lift in Scotland, connecting the Forth and Clyde Canal with the Union Canal. The lift is named after the nearby town of Falkirk in central Scotland. It opened in 2002, reconnecting the two canals for the first time since the 1930s as part of the Millennium Link project.
The plan to regenerate central Scotland's canals and reconnect Glasgow with Edinburgh was led by British Waterways with support and funding from seven local authorities, the Scottish Enterprise Network, the European Regional Development Fund, and the Millennium Commission. Planners decided early on to create a dramatic 21st-century landmark structure to reconnect the canals, instead of simply recreating the historic lock flight.
The wheel raises boats by 24 metres (79 ft), but the Union Canal is still 11 metres (36 ft) higher than the aqueduct which meets the wheel. Boats must also pass through a pair of locks between the top of the wheel and the Union Canal. The Falkirk Wheel is the only rotating boat lift of its kind in the world, and one of two working boat lifts in the United Kingdom, the other being the Anderton boat lift.
Had a little trip down to Canary Wharf's Winter Lights Festival with a camera rotation tool. This was very bright but stopping down the lens and being a bit quick with the lens cap seemed to work. Shot in one photographic exposure as usual.

Sometimes I like to go through all my old photos and take a trip down memory lane. I love recalling all the places I've been to, photos I've taken, ideas I've come up with, challenges I've faced. I especially love remembering all the laughs and silliness I've had. Nostalgia is a beautiful thing.
In a couple of weeks, I'll be in my last month of the 365. Truth be told, I'm starting to look forward to the end. I really need a break from photography, from that constant pressure to come up with an idea every single day, set all the lighting/tripod/camera up, get all my wardrobe and props set up, shoot it and spend hours Photoshopping.
Don't get me wrong, I have loved every second of this project, even the bad days. I've never regretted starting it, not once. But a break will be nice too
An unexpected walkabout around Gateshead waterfront and Neil Rushby walked in to the Sage fully expecting to get thrown out by security but amazingly we were allowed in late at night to take photographs. The interior is lit up like a Christmas tree and it would've been rude not to do a camera rotation shot... Shot in one single photographic exposure

This must be one of my favourite places i visted this year. What a spectacle to witness 1200 tons of steel in rotating action yet just 1.5kw of electricity to turn the 10 hydraulic pumps driven by a small electric motor.
Its all about balance as each gondola can accommodate a 65ft (20m) boat, and retain a mass of 430 tons either side.
So the weekend just gone I caught up with Martin Turner and Ed Bentley who were spending the weekend doing some photography in London; the weather wasn’t supposed to be up to much so we had a mix of indoor and out locations planned, all of which were mighty fine and new to all of us!!
This taken at the first point of call, and it is a mighty fine ceiling, getting the correct exposure was proving to be difficult so I had to try and get a balance between not over exposing the skylight while keeping the shadows in check.
No excuses for my absence (well I have) but I am rubbish at keeping up to date with things, I hope that you’re all having a good week, half way there already… yay :-)
