Do you wait at home?
I am surrounded by nature,
I want to spend time in a hideout.
It will not be disturbed by anyone ... •.¸¸◟(˘͈ᵕ ˘͈●)

B.A.P. Unión - Peruvian Navy Tallship - One of the largest sailing vessels in the world.
The B.A.P. Unión, a Peruvian ship, arrived To Vancouver, BC Canada, Thursday to commemorate 75 years of diplomatic relations between Canada and Peru.
The tall ship — a traditional sailing vessel — serves as a training ship for Peruvian naval cadets. That country's government says it is the second largest training ship in the world.
The ship has 34 sails, and has a total sail area of more than 3,400 square metres. It houses 243 crew members.
BAP Unión is a training ship of the Peruvian Navy, built between 2012–2015 by Shipyard Marine Industrial Services of Peru, known as SIMA. It is a four-masted, steel-hulled, class "A" barque, composed of 38 steel modules. It has a total length (including bowsprit) of 115.50 m (378 ft 11 in);a beam of 13.50 m (44 ft 3 in); a draft of 6.50 m (21 ft 4 in); an air draft of 53.50 m (175 ft 6 in); a displacement of 3,200 metric tonnes; a speed of 12 knots (22 km/h) and a crew of 250 officers and trainees. The ship's name honors a Peruvian corvette that took part in the first stage of the 1879–1883 War of the Pacific as part of a naval squadron under the command of Miguel Grau, a hero of the Peruvian Navy.
I appreciate your visits & kind words of support. My thanks to you all, for taking the time to view and acknowledge my photography.

If you wait long enough sometimes the moment arrives ;-)) from back at the end of the summer. Not keen on the background but sometimes you can't be fussy!!
Exquisite wine is produced from vines grown in the fertile land that surrounds Meteora, Greece. This is a view of a vineyrard directly beneath the Pyxari rock formation. Pyxari is located close to “Bándovas” or “Kofinás,” at walking distance from the village Kastraki.
Can you spot the two cave-dwellings or hermitages visible on Pyxari?
On the right, below, one sees St. Anthony’s hermitage, built in c. 1782 AD or earlier inside 3 caves. The 3-storey building was restored in 2005 after a fire in 1970. It contains a basilica on its top floor.
On the left, above, St. Gregory’s hermitage is visible (multiple-storey cells inside caves with wooden balconies and rope ladders in front of each), dating from 1374 AD. The wooden balconies were preserved because they were never reached by rain thanks to the fact that Pyxari rock formation is leaning towards its SW side.
Have you spotted an Elderly, bespectacled gentleman dressed in a red fur trimmed outfit....carrying a bulky sack over his shoulder? He was seen attempting to gain entry to a dwelling in the East Anglia area. News of sightings will be gladly received.... he travels with some reindeers who would be grateful for a carrot I think.
“It is part of the photographer’s job to see more intensely than most people do. He must have and keep in him something of the receptiveness of the child who looks at the world for the first time or of the traveler who enters a strange country.”
– Bill Brandt

The former dry dock in the Eriksberg, Gothenburg.
First ship built in 1873 and closed down in 1978.
Now expensive apartments have replaced the derelict industry area it once was.
Bay City Michigan hosts the Tall Ships again with much excitement and high attendance. Every three years we enjoy a nice variety of Tall Ships and pirates. This year includes several new ships as well as some that have visited before.

Pyxari rock, Meteora, Greece, with both hermitages visible:
On the right, one sees St. Anthony’s hermitage, built inside 3 caves in c. 1782 AD or earlier. The 3-storey hermitage was restored in 2005 after a fire in 1970. It contains a basilica on its top floor. One can still see the oldest wood & rope ladder hanging…
On the left, St. Gregory’s hermitage is visible (multiple-storey cells inside caves with wooden balconies and rope ladders in front of each), dating from 1374 AD.
Pyxari rock leans to the side, where the cave cells are, so their wood wasn’t reached by rain; hence, the wooden constructions were preserved. The location is aka “Bándovas” or “Kofinás,” at walking distance from Kastraki village.
Cave-dwelling asceticism in Meteora was an early form of monasticism, practiced by hermits or recluse monks. In Greek Orthodox church, such dwellings are known as “sketes” or small friaries, owned by (or dependent on) some neighboring Monastery (Holy Trinity monastery, in the case of these 2 hermitages).

Had a fantastic Sunday shoot with Umesh at the old Sunda Kelapa port in North Jakarta. This is one of those few places that have not yet been hit by tourists. Most of the people there are the local fisherman or those working on the Phinisi ships. There is no entry ticket and you are free to have a wander wherever you want to (even on the ships!). The port has apparently been around since the 5th century - would love to go back sometime and shoot it at dawn.
See more in the Indonesia set.

Not sure what you call the rope ladders on tall ships, but I saw the term Jacob's Ladder is used for some, and I thought it'd be an appropriate for this shot--like Jacob's ladder ascending into the sky.

It was a quiet Saturday night and Roy was restless after all of his adventures in the swamp with his beloved Molly. A charming but overprotective Jerry Berry doll has been holding him captive ever since he brought home an alligator for tea. Luckily I was here to photograph him just as he escaped from the balcony of the dollhouse after making a crude rope ladder. What will happen next? As you can see, Roy is pausing a moment to catch his breath... Molly seems unconcerned as she continues to enjoy her last moments of swinging in the gathering dusk.
This photograph shows the Pirates Rope Ladder at the Palm Harbor Carnival. Arnolds Amusements, Inc., is the Traveling Carnival, which set up the Midway. The Carnival was set up near Florida Avenue and Alternate Route 19 (aka: Bayshore Blvd.) in Downtown Palm Harbor, FL.
I had gone to Downtown Palm Harbor that Morning to get a Haircut and was surprised to see the Carnival had been set up on several streets on several city blocks in Palm Harbor.
I normally park on the Florida Avenue very close to the Barber Shop (between 12th & 11th Streets), however I had to park two blocks away because the carnival completely occupied the street in front of the Barber Shop & for several blocks around it.
Luckily, I had my Camera with me (so after my Haircut), I strolled around the area taking Photographs of the Carnival Attractions, which were still being Set-Up !

Summer in Canada was a little like summer in Korea; wet. But, undaunted and unwilling to spend each and every day stuck in the house, I dragged my cousin Damien out into his backyard for a photo shoot between showers. Being the biggest ham in the universe, he was not difficult to convince.
Now, I had a lot of fun doing this shoot, but I learned a thing or two about the natural world; while rain is certainly good for grass and trees and corn, it is also really good for fire ants and mosquitos. Both of which had their way with me while I was flat on my belly in the yard for an hour.
