OK, I have been obsessed with root beer this summer and wanted to stop wondering if you can make root beer ice cream and just make it. Which I did: www.suziethefoodie.com/root-beer-ice-cream-recipe/

I feel like I want to put quotes around that -- root beer "float"

It was so ridiculous.

The rookie mistake of pouring the root beer too fast was made, causing it to foam up ridiculously.

I snapped this photo with my Kodak EasyShare M200. This is an old fashioned A&W Drive In with the frosty mugs. You can still get car hop service or dine in. The restaurant is located at 304 S. Fossil Street in Russell, Kansas.

Homemade Soda Black Cow Ice Cream Float with a Straw

Not happy with my entry into the DPS assignment this week but I hated to miss one so I just through this together last minute so as not to miss it.

Oh well, at least it tasted good. :-)

Delicious cupcakes that taste better than the ice cream treat with the same name!

It's root beer float weather. Mom/Grandma enjoyed it to the last resounding slurp :-)

Bought an old timey root beer float kit today and I just could not resist how cute it looked.

On a warm spring afternoon, a special afterschool snack-root beer floats! In my awesome new glasses Paul got me for my birthday. I love that foam..

I went to RAM (a local microbrewery) the other night to meet some friends. I wasn’t in the mood for beer, so I decided to go with a root beer float for a decent $3.99. Much to my surprise (and quite frankly, my embarrassment), I received the largest overflowing mug of vanilla ice cream and root beer deliciousness that I have ever seen in my life. If you’ve been to RAM, you might know that their desserts are notoriously humongous, but never have I been served a drink in such gigantic proportions.

For a donation members could get all of the ice cream, rootbeer floats, popcorn and cotton candy they could handle, with all of the funds raised going towards City of Hope’s medical innovations.

Been jonesing for a rootbeer float lately. The ice cream is homemade (I used an Alton Brown recipe cuz he's my hero) and I stuck that mug in the freezer for a bit before making this one.

Strobist info and setup:

mug is sitting on a piece of Plexiglass, set on top of a cardboard box lined with black velvet to kill light. Tried to clean the plexi as best I could before the shot to limit amount of work done in post. Clone stamped and brushed away the horizon lines for the plexi in Photoshop and burned the reflected image on the bottom a bit, which de-emphasized that portion of the frame a bit and ended up killing a lot of the imperfections in the plexi as well. Two birds with one stone!

2 flashes to either side and slightly in front, shot through DIY strip boxes made from cutting an Amazon.com box in half, taping it back together, and lining the inside with aluminum tape. Diffused using the waxy paper I peeled the tape off of because I was too sick and tired to get up, throw it away, and find some other form of diffusion material.
