Every 2 years, in mid August in the even years a giant flower carpet is laid on the central market square (Grand Place) in Brussels. Around 750000 begonias are used to create this carpet. This event lasts 3 or 4 days.

The theme of 2018, this photo, was Mexico.

Because of Covid19, the 2020 edition is cancelled. It was scheduled from 13-16 August 2020.

The Modernist-styled New Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow - arguably the finest 20th century Russian art museum in the city.

No art on display in this shot, but I was taken with the uncluttered view and way the reflection played on the polished stone floor.

Sometimes, all you need is a big room and a big window.

…taken 2 days ago from the bathroom again, with snow and mist. Love how the electric pylons have vanished. I think it looks quite magical. Have a wonderful weekend, my friends. ❤️❄️

For Smile on Saturday. Room with a view. Kali would love to chase that squirrel for sure! LOL.

Since this little journeyman has probably thought, nobody sees him there on his cozy cliff-place ;-)

Seen from close up, you can guess in the eye where he is sitting ...

Da hat dieser kleine Geselle wohl gedacht, ihn sieht dort niemand auf seinem gemütlichen Klippen-Plätzchen ;-)

Aus der Nähe betrachtet kann man im Auge ahnen, wo er sitzt ...

Dassie: Initially the animals were considered to be closely related to the rodents, later they were more closely related to other ungulates. Along with other hyrax species and the manatee, this species is the most closely related to the elephant.

From this angle on the balcony at the old Mount Royal Hospital you would be forgiven for thinking this is a scene from Italy somewhere. The title is of course a reference to the setting of one of E.M. Forster's great novels.

Architectural symmetry along Marine Parade in Worthing, West Sussex. Had to wait a little while for the shadows to be symmetrical too...

Looking through the window of a derelict meat packing factory in the Docks of Liverpool. Through the window are piles of crushed metal awaiting transport to China. Great expression used here in the North of England - "Where there's muck, there's money.

Have a great Saturday folks.

Sirkeci Train Station, like someone left alone in the cold. Heartbroken. I have the feeling, every time, someone comes near, a window lights up. It's sad, that so much beauty is being wasted.

That was 2016.

It is now 2021, I think the feeling is the same in the minds of many. Waiting rooms should be temporary stops before you embark on a journey. What we have now is a stasis. Isolated, much to give but having no one to. The few conversations with people and friends are the few moments we light up, and try to show the beauty; within and around.

Reedited and reframed.

Smile on Saturday theme - Room With a View

Pool at our accommodations while in Bluff, Utah. We never got a chance to jump in, but the 100 percent humidity in this room was a big relief to the dry Utah air. I never thought I would ever miss the Florida humidity, but I did. Behind the window they were in the process of building a deck. Would be a gorgeous spot to spend an evening enjoying the view. Happy Smile on Saturday!

the grass seems greener on the other side..

This is no HDR ... I have never used HDR yet ...

So, what did I do?

I layered this picture and in one of the layers I made part of the picture negative. I adjusted the colors a little bit more and the put the layers together.

I was surprised by the result!
