Since one week I have some new roommates. About 20 little shrimp, that are living in my aquarium now. They seem pretty happy and alive, I hope they are so ;-) Please enjoy some of the photos I got!

When I was young, one of my favorite books was about a chipmunk. The pictures inside his home always fascinated me, so that was the inspiration for these 2 creations.

While I am a dog person, I visit my college roommate who has a houseful of kitty kats. They like participating in the Christmas festivities and we enjoy their presence. I have loved getting to know each one's personality and spending time watching their antics.
Our road trip up the California coast is less than a week away. Hooray!
I am going to bring only two cameras, my 5DII and my Mamiya C33. Scotty still thinks it's one too much. Does anyone else have a non-photographic spouse who isn't so fond of how much time you spend shooting little details? He's tolerant… to a limit. Thank goodness I'll have Lara, my oldest roommate from Montreal traveling with us. They'll hopefully keep each other company through any potential slow-downs. Incidentally, all of our birthdays fall within two weeks of one-another, so this is our gift to ourselves. :D

Last weekend at a Valentine's Day Dinner with my current/future roommates for next year. I could't get enough of all the floral prints we were wearing on this super old floral couch in the basement of the church where we were.
My new rommate Paul-Freddie-Tommy-Stinkie-Voldemort finally arrived yesterday. He came a long, long way from Bulgaria to Germany. Many, many hours inside a dark car, along with other cats and dogs. But the trouble was worth it, all of those lovelies found a new home and don't have to live on the streets anymore. He's such a cuddly type of tomcat, sleeps next to my face, (when I shove him off my face) and follows me like a dog. Let's hope for a healthy and long friendship together.

We were at the Riparian Preserve on our typical weekend afternoon walk when I spied my wife Jean and dog Jasper strolling up the sidewalk. (I sometimes get ahead of or behind them while off photographing birds. They're very patient with me)

I absolutely love doing photo shoots with friends. Sonia and Allie didn't have to ask me twice. We went out on a cold Saturday afternoon and did a photo shoot downtown Eugene, and over at University of Oregon campus at Willamette Hall. It was a nice relaxing photo shoot, and it was fun to get to experiment!

I had the honor of helping Vera move into her apartment today. I really didn't do any moving, but I was able to come out and help her with bags of clothes, food, toiletries, cleaning supplies, etc... that I received from all my friends who donate to my "cause". It was a great feeling to see her and know that she is sleeping in a warm bed with a roof over her head. No need for a garbage can fire, and she doesn't have to go any further than her kitchen to get something to eat.
Vera and Levita are living together. I'm not sure HOW the arrangements were made, what Social Services programs are involved, but I also have not been involved in the "system" as so many people are who know more about it than me. And believe me, I am very grateful I know so little about it.
I feel quite exhausted. Last week my roommate Gregor told me that he got a job offer in Leipsic. The job begins in January and so he asked if he can move out at the end of December. I made an announcement next day in the internet and I was shocked by the huge number of people who wanted to see the flat. I got around 40 mails. I invited about 10 people for a meeting and now decided who will move in. The decision wasn't easy because there were some really nice guys. But I had to pick one out. My new roommate is a girl this time. Her name is Laura and I'm optimistic that we get on well with each other.
I hope you can see my exhaustion in this picture. Apartment hunting or roommate hunting is always very stressful. This picture is an adaption of an old selfportrait. I like to work with candles and skin. I should do this more often.

Here's a wonderful vintage photograph showing two young ladies – dressed in the fashion of the late forties – embracing. The location seems to be a university campus on a sunny day in spring or autumn. The caption "Roommates" is written underneath the picture in a lovely female hand. Apparently this photo has been cut out of an album – it is still held in place by two red mounting corners. Note that both girls are wearing saddle shoes.

Asper: Yup! Nice to meet you… sorry I don’t know your name?
Jade: It is Jade Ddalgi. :)
Asper: Ddalgi as in strawberry?
Jade: You could say that. Hey does anyone know who Maxine Nelson is?
Miku: Not a clue.
Asper: I don’t know, but we can look her up like any Good roommates should. ;)
