Whilst up at the Storr I was so engulfed in the stunning rock formations, it would have been easy to miss this. Luckily I kept one eye on the bigger picture out across the Straights of Raasay. When I spotted this rainbow approaching the distant lighthouse on the Isle of Rona it was a case of putting the leg work in, to get the best alignment. The beauty is often in the details, so look closely!
The seal researchers' bothy stands proud on the island's south side, like a garden shed pretending to be a lighthouse.
Under lockdown.
I'll still lurk and post a comment here and there, and visit photos of my friends.
Stay safe!
Last week I was privileged to visit someone who has inspired me for a long time, and it was truly refreshing being around a person that reminds you of all the inspirations that sometimes get locked away in the back of your mind. We spent a few days exploring her city, chasing views, drinking coffee and smoothies and just talking about random things. It reminded me that things don't have to be jaw dropping or spectacular to be special; sometimes the little things fill a bigger gap than the extraordinary.

While Rona Ambrose was on board with One Ocean Expeditions, she had the opportunity to participate in a fascinating research experiment with a group of scientists from the Ocean Wise and the Vancouver Aquarium to test for plastics in the ocean.
Photographed using my Holga 120FN, Ilford HP5 and a 2 stop red filter. I want to make a series of FB prints in the darkroom so this is really the first of a set of scans to get a feel for the image potential.
Rona is a 28 year old Quarter Horse and has been Ariannete's best friend since she was 3 years old. Rona is showing signs of old age and may not be around much longer. I spent the day photographing the two before it was too late. Towards the end of the shoot Ariannete put her head against Rona's and Rona closed her eyes as if she knew what was coming soon. I feel fortunate for having been able to capture the bond that these two have.
