No, I am not writing a new romantasy book with a title like that. I am simply standing on ice in the moonlight.
#SWANK
I received this as a birthday gift, close to ten years ago, when I lived in California. It's a two-sided custom corset that I designed at a corset studio, in San Francisco, called Romantasy. She had all sorts of fabrics and styles that I could choose from and measured me, for ideal fit. What I ended up with is an underbust corset that is Goth on one side and Renaissance on the other, with two different sets of ribbons to match each side. A fabulous gift.
When I first got it, I lived in Northern California; I could wear this just about anywhere and still fit in. Now that I live in the Southeast, Halloween is about the only time I can wear it out, as part of a costume, and not be questioned... or perhaps it's all in my head? Maybe I'll have to test it, one of these days.
Neat corsets, lovely!
This is Ann Grogan, of Romantasy Corsets. I'm not sure they're still in business.

Here's me and Kelli sitting with Ann Grogan during her workshop at SCC, "How to Get Read in10 Seconds Flat: Genetic Women's Perspectives on Enhancing the MTF Image." Ann is tons of fun! :)
I've known Michelle for at least a few years now, and it always amazed me how fast she progressed in terms of developing her look and getting out there and enjoying her femme self. She's just totally sweet and completely fearless.
She had this dress custom-made by Romantasy with the built-in corset, and this picture doesn't even begin do to it justice. It was stunning, and she wore it really well! To say that she turned heads is an understatement...and at a formal dinner with hundreds of transgender people in attendance, that's saying something!
Here I am trying on a different corset...not quite as pretty, but very well-made! I actually ended up buying a custom-made corset from Romantasy and got it in time to wear for a holiday party!
At Southern Comfort I ordered a custom-made corset from Romantasy, and fortunately it arrived in time for my group's holiday party!
I've worn corsets before, but never one that was custom-made for me, and it's like night and day. It's just a really well-made garment...they did great work!
I chose the colors figuring they'd be simple but eye-catching, but also somewhat discreet if I wanted to wear it underneath outfits. But when it came I knew I'd have to wear the corset as outerwear since it was so pretty. Fortunately my dress looked like it was made for that corset, so I really lucked out!
This picture just cracks me up! We took a bunch of pictures so clearly Noelle and Karen figured we were between shots, but the fact that I'm still shamelessly mugging for the camera I think underscores what a total attention whore I can be. :-)
Here's another picture of my outfit, taken at the holiday party. The corset really added some pizazz to the dress, and I got lots of compliments. Definitely a fun evening!
Here's me trying on corsets and talking to Ann Grogan from Romantasy. The picture is funny since I just look like I'm about to faint...in fact, I ended up wearing that for a while and it was surprisingly comfortable!

Karen was the first to notice that the three of us were all wearing black dresses with elbow-length gloves. Pictures natually followed. :-)
Here's my friend Lauren and me at the gala. This started off as a pretty typical picture, right up until she goosed me a half second before the flash went off. Timing is everything!
While I was at the conference, I tried on a few corsets from Romantasy (http://www.romantasy.com). I've worn corsets before, but these were surprisingly comfortable...and they sure make for a cute figure!

More snaps from the weekend's Cymera Festival of literary Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror. This panel, chaired by Kaite Welsh, included Sydney J Shields, Georgia Summers and S.T. Gibson (I recently finished reading Gibson's new novel, Evocation, which I really enjoyed, and adored her previous work Dowry of Blood, a feminist slant on an old mythos - retelling Dracula from the perspective of the Brides).
