The Romanesque chapel of Vieux Bourg - France
The chapel of Vieux Bourg (La Chapelle-sous-Dun), dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin, is a Romanesque building from the first half of the 12th century.
Begun in the early 13th century as a replacement for an earlier Romanesque church, construction continued through the rest of the century.
Next to the Benedictine monastery church in Lubiń, on a neighboring hill, there is the Church of St. Leonard. It is a Romanesque temple erected in the 13th century from granite blocks as a parish church. It was rebuilt and extended with bricks in the Gothic style in 1549–56, and the baroque western gable of the façade dates back to the 17th century. The former Romanesque church is the presbytery of today's church, which is clearly visible in the stone "blows" from which the walls are erected. One of the most valuable monuments of Romanesque architecture in Greater Poland. From the beginning of its existence until 1836, the church of St. Leonarda was a parish church in Lubiń.

The inflorescence of Romanesco broccoli or Romanesque cauliflower for the Macro Mondays challenge "defining beauty". The quote I have chosen to accompany the photo is:
"The world is complex. That complexity is beautiful." - Ward Cunningham.
Each bud is composed of a series of smaller buds, each arranged in a logarithmic spiral. Mathematicians use the term fractal to describe a curve or geometrical figure, each part of which has the same statistical character as the whole. In Romanesco broccoli, the pattern is only an approximate fractal since the pattern eventually terminates when the feature is sufficiently small. The nave of Saint-Lazare cathedral in Autun dates from the height of the Romanesque in Burgundy, from the beginning of the 12th century, when the cathedral was built (1125-1135).
The elevation of the central vessel is on three levels: large arcades, false triforium and high windows. The vaults, redone in the 19th century, are composed of a broken vessel and punctuated by also broken beams and double rollers. They fall on small columns and fluted pilasters.
The vault culminates at more than 23 meters (75 ft).

The Baptistery of Pisa has incredible acoustics inside thanks to its cover, formed by a system of double domes. Every 30 minutes during visiting hours, employees make some short vocal intonations (echoes) to allow everyone to hear the impressive sound effect that takes place inside the baptistery.
The church of St. Florian in Wiry was built in 1900 in the place of the earlier wooden ones. The first temple was probably built in the 13th century.
It shows a neo-Romanesque, three-nave style, with a transept and a presbytery ending in a semicircular apse. Inside, you can also admire the neo-Romanesque style with polychrome and large rosettes filled with stained glass. In front of the church there is a beautiful historic gate leading to the church area.

We stopped off in Durham on our way to Newcastle sadly it was grey wet and cold. Durham is one of my favourite cathedrals and one of the oldest in England . It does lacks the delicacy of later Gothic churches looking more like a fortress but its a magnificent building . When I post a shot of the interior you will see the remarkable massive pillars that hold up the ceiling . This shot from the river is a lovely view though a brighter day would have been nice
Durham Cathedral is one measure of the swift and profound transformation brought about by the Norman Conquest in England in the eleventh and twelfth centuries: not only a new art and architectural style—what is variously referred to as Anglo-Norman or English Romanesque—but an unprecedented and almost military-industrial mode of construction.
The Cathedral was built between the late 11th and early 12th century to house the bodies of St. Cuthbert (634-687 AD) (the evangeliser of Northumbria) and the Venerable Bede (672/3-735 AD). It attests to the importance of the early Benedictine monastic community and is the largest and finest example of Norman architecture in England. The innovative audacity of its vaulting foreshadowed Gothic architecture. The Cathedral lies within the precinct of Durham Castle, first constructed in the late eleventh century under the orders of William the Conqueror.
The Castle was the stronghold and residence of the Prince-Bishops of Durham, who were given virtual autonomy in return for protecting the northern boundaries of England, and thus held both religious and secular power.
The Cathedral and Castle are located on a peninsula formed by a bend in the River Wear with steep river banks constituting a natural line of defence. These were essential both for the community of St. Cuthbert, who came to Durham in the tenth century in search of a safe base (having suffered periodic Viking raids over the course of several centuries), and for the Prince-Bishops of Durham, protectors of the turbulent English frontier.
In 1986 the cathedral and Durham Castle were designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The basilica
The Romanesque-Gothic basilica is one of the most remarkable examples of Romanesque architecture in Northern France. At 126 m long, it impresses with its depth and sense of intimacy. Built in the 11th century, it houses the Holy Bulb and the relics of Saint-Remi, the bishop who baptized Clovis in 498. His tomb (1847) occupies the center of the choir. The sober Romanesque nave and four-storey Gothic choir (late 12th century) form an impressive ensemble of lightness and harmony. The façade was built at the same time as the choir.

In mathematics, a spiral is a curve which emanates from a point, moving farther away as it revolves around the point. The Fibonacci spiral is a set of numbers that starts with a one or a zero, followed by a one, and proceeds based on the rule that each number (called a Fibonacci number) is equal to the sum of the preceding two numbers. Our Life Force Energy, known as Kundalini, is a Spiral that flows from the base of our spine. It represents God/Goddess, Life, Energy and Evolving Journey. The Spiral is found in human physiology, animals, plants and minerals in nature as well as weather patterns. These spirals are for eating!

The church of San Fermo Maggiore in Verona is a church that consists of two churches. The lower church was built in years 1065–1143 by Benedictines in the Romanesque style. It retained its original form from 1065 on the Latin cross plan as a three-nave structure.
The upper church was built by Franciscans in the Gothic style in the years 1261–1350. The facade, completed around 1350, is a combination of both styles. In the following centuries it was rebuilt and equipped. The belfry was not completed until 13th century, it has six bells cast in 1755.
The church of San Fermo is a sophisticated example of the Gothic style that became popular in Italy through the Franciscans.
In the presbytery, in the ancient sarcophagus under the main altar, there are relics of Saints Fermo and Rustico.
The twelve-sided pulpit made of red Verona marble is noteworthy.

W kolejnych wiekach był on przebudowywany i wyposażany.
