Freshly baked Zaatar Rolls with labneh and a cup of tea. The perfect treat! Baked, styled, photographed and edited by me. Featuring my DIY hand-painted green backdrop.
Wednesday I made Pumpernickle sandwhich rolls and they are so good!
These are nice and dark with a strong, rich flavor.
Nancy Pumpernickle Bread
5 cups of warm water
3 tablespoons of yeast
1/3 cup of molasses
1/3 cup baking cocoa
1 tablespoon of salt
1/3 cup corn meal
2 cups of rye flour
3 cups of Whole wheat flour
approximately 4 cups of all purpose flour
Mix all ingredients but the all purpose flour. Gradually add the all purpose flour until you have a nice consitancy, stretchy, but firm as you would for any bread dough.
Let rise covered for about an hour. Form into rolls or bread, brush with melted butter and let rise about another hour.
Bake at 400F - rolls in my oven take about 20 minutes. Bread might take about an hour. Brush with melted butter when you remove from the oven.
Spring rolls just like my mom makes. She likes to use bulgogi (Korean style beef) and I like to eat it. She makes a "sauce" out of fresh squeezed lemon juice, a little sugar and red pepper flakes. Healthy and tasty!
33 years ago this Rolls Royce radio was a gift to my Morfar (Grandfather) in Denmark. I was 5. As you can imagine I was enthralled by this...to me it was just a really cool toy car. I played with it for a while...and then asked "Morfar, can I have this when you die?". What can I say, kids say funny stupid things!
It's been a family joke for years, and this car has sat on his shelf since that day. Every time I visited (they live in Skagen, Denmark) I saw it and the story was relived. It's given my family lots of laughs...
My Mom and Dad just returned from Skagen and my Morfar told them to take it it to me.
Part of me doesn't like it here...it's not time for it to be here yet. But another part of me just feels closer to him when I see it.
This one's for you Morfar!
Woke to eleven degrees F. this morning, and decided to pop open a sleeve of orange rolls and enjoy them with our morning coffee. No fuss - no muss, and really quite good. I always keep some in my fridge for unexpected guests.
My friend and I went to this thrift store today and saw this Rolls sitting in the parking lot. Had to laugh...
Additional note after 7 comments: Maybe it's not a Rolls, it might be a kit car. I don't know my cars either gina2299. My friend just called it a Rolls, so that's what I thought it was.
An imposter?
